Hi, could you tell me more info like what phone you are using or what data you lost? But no matter what device you are using, If you lost your data, the first thing you need to do is to stop using your device 'cause this action will lead to the data overwritten situation. Once this situation happen, you will lose the chance to recover them.
Maybe you will be curious about this: I cannot find my files in my device anywhere, why did you say the data overwritten will happen?
Yes, you get the point. That's what I wanna tell you. Actually, the files are not really deleted from your drive. Then what happen? To tell you the truth, when the computer system (or the device) receives the delete command, the only thing the system will do is to free up the space which was belonged to the 'deleted files' so that the space can be used for the new files. So you still have chance to recover the 'deleted files'.
But here comes to the important point like I said above, if you put any new files into the drive, the new files will take the space which was belonged to the 'deleted files' and you will no longer to get the files back.
Or you may also go to this post to learn more about the details and get methods to see if they can help you a lot in recovering data:

Install it another computer which is running well.If your Hdd run well in that computer ,change the USB cable .If the HDD can not run in another pc you think, you have lost data.Because that Hdd cant run any more.

R_click on my computer>Properties>Hardware>Device manager>uninstall all the usb hub ,one after one .
After UN install all the usb, restart your PC .
