I would check the house thermostat(and its wiring to the indoor unit), and if it's OK then check the heat transfer fluid diverter valve inside the indoor unit (should be sending the hot fluid through the big radiator (air exchanger)) until the surface temperature of the radiator is approximately 130 degrees F, then the fan control operates and the fan starts to blow hot air through your ductwork. My HTM is 26 years old and I've had many opportunities to "hone" its operation...

This is no doubt due to failure of the "hot surface ignitor". This device lights the main burners for your furnace, and they fail a lot. I strongly recommend the replacement should be done by a technician.

It is normal. Your house has to go down a couple more degrees because the heat pump is not working. You can solve this by rewirng you thermostat. Take off the wire that goes to Y and tape off. Then take the wires that are marked w and e or w1 and put the wires to yellow. Do not run ac with it wired like this. If you need more information please post me back

Look at your Thermostat wiring.
If there is a green wire going to the "G" terminal, disconnect it.
If it stops running, you have a bad T-stat.
If it keeps running, you either have a stuck fan relay or a low voltage control wiring malfunction.
Those are usually related to one of the safety switches having problems.
If green is not going to G, let me know, and we will determine which one is indeed the fan wire and go from there.
