SOURCE: Color Printing Problem

If a document displays in color on the screen but prints in black and white, try the following solutions. Print a test page to determine if the color cartridge is working

    1. Open the top cover of the printer and remove the cartridges.
    2. Verify that the correct cartridges are installed in the printer. Click here to see if you have the correct cartridges . If the correct cartridges are installed, make sure that the tape has been removed from the cartridge nozzles.

    4. Close the printer door.
Verify the correct printer is selected as the default printer
  1. In the software application that you are using to print, click File .
  2. Click Print .
  3. In the Print dialog box, verify that the name of the HP printer you are using is listed in the Name box.

  7. In the Details tab, click Setup . Under Printout, select one of the color options. (If other options have check marks, click in the check boxes to remove the check marks.) If there is no Setup button, click the Graphics tab, and then click Color . Under Color Control, choose a color option, and click OK . If there is no Graphics tab, click the Advanced tab and look for the text Print in Grayscale . If there is a check mark in the box by Print in Grayscale, click in the box to remove the check mark, and click OK . If you are using Windows 2000, in the Advanced tab, click Printing Defaults . Click the Advanced tab. The box by Print in Grayscale should not be checked.
  8. Click OK .
  9. Close the Printers window.
  10. Open the software application that you were using to print.

Install a new driver If none of the above options worked, the wrong driver might be installed on the computer. For the most current HP printer drivers, go to the HP Web site.

  5. Remove the paper jam through the opening at the back of the printer.
  6. Replace the rear access door.
  7. Reload the paper into the paper In tray.

I have an HP Printer DEskjet 882C. The colored cartridge ran out so I put a new one in and the flashing ink light still won't go out and so now the printer still won't print... I cleaned the nodes with...

Normal 0 Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Check the End of warranty date on both the cartridges.
Deskjet 882c printer does not support reserve mode printing.
Means, even if only cartridge is defective or expired the printer will not print with other cartridge which is fine.

Both the cartridges should in inwarranty and fine.
Shake the cartridges well
With the color and black cartridges touch a clean, slightly damp cloth (squeeze out excess water),
to the printer nozzle area on the print cartridge, to see if you can make the ink flow freely.

Be careful not to touch the nozzle area (with holes on it) on the cartridges.
Wipe the copper-colored electrical contacts with a clean distilled water or clean tap water and then with a dry lint-free cotton cloth
Also using a new swab, clean the electrical contacts inside the printer, in the carriage.

Install both the cartirdges in the printer, disconnect the printer from the computer and try to print a self test and diagnostic page
