Unplug the computer from the line connection, pick it up with both hands, carry it to the storage area and put it down on the floor. Walk away, close the door, and return to the computer you are now using. See wan't that easy.

How do i install my computer memory

This is a very vague question.
Firstly, make sure the computer is switched OFF.
For a desktop PC, you need to open the PC cover and locate the existing memory installed in slots on the motherboard. If there are no free slots then you will need to remove the old memory and fit the new memory.
For laptops, there is usually a plate on the bottom held in by a screw. Again, there may or may not be a free slot for the memory.
If you do not know what you are doing then get someone els to do it for you.

This is a PCI Network Card. It plugs into a PCI expansion slot on your computer. You will need to install the drivers for this network card to work properly.

How to install a network card Some newer computers come with network interfaces built in - your machine carefully for a socket that looks like a large telephone socket with a network_symbol.jpg next to it. These are sometimes hidden behind a flap or on the corner of your laptop next to the modem socket.
If you haven't got a network interface already on your machine you will have to install a network interface card. These are available to buy from the IT Service Desk.
  • USB Adaptors simply plug into a USB port.
  • PCMCIA Cards for laptops slot in a free PCMCIA slot on the side of your machine.
  • PCI Cards are a bit more fiddly and require you to open up your machine.
  • We advise that you use a USB adaptor for ease of installation
Instructions on how to fit a PCI network interface card.
  1. Shut down Windows and then turn the computer off and unplug it. Never work in your computer's insides with the power on or the power cord plugged in!
  2. Remove the cover from your computer. There are normally a number of screws on the outside of the case to remove. Put the screws someplace where they won't wander off.
  3. Find an unused expansion slot inside the computer. The expansion slots are lined up in a neat row near the back of the computer. All new computers have at least three or four slots known as PCI slots.
  4. Many older computers also have several slots known as ISA slots. You can distinguish ISA slots from PCI slots by noting the size of the slots. PCI slots are smaller than ISA slots, so you can't accidentally insert a PCI card in an ISA slot or vice versa. Figure 2 shows the different types of slots. PCI slots are white, ISA slots are black
  5. When you find the right type of slot that doesn't have a card in it, remove the metal backplate from the back of the computer's chassis. A small retaining screw holds the backplate in place. Remove the screw, pull the backplate out, keep it in a safe place in case you ever want to remove the network card.
  6. Insert the network card into the slot. Line up the connectors on the bottom of the card with the connectors in the expansion slot, and then press the card straight down. Sometimes you have to press uncomfortably hard to get the card to slide into the slot.
  7. Ignored the little cable that came with the card, you can chuck this in the bin. It is a Wake-On-LAN connector and isn't required for your card to work.
  8. Secure the network card with the screw that you removed in Step 4.
  9. Put the computer's case back together. Watch out for the loose cables inside the computer; you don't want to pinch them with the case as you slide it back on. Secure the case with the screws that you removed in Step 2.
  10. Turn the computer back on.

Installing memory

Switch comp off, open it up, locate RAM modules, normally in slots next to each other, any free spaces, plug more RAM in, if no free slots, remove one of them, check its size, replace with larger. They held in by two white clips situated ar either end.

Need to unlock bios password on dell laptop, have service tag # and ends in 59b

Hi,

If you have loast the password, to reset the BIOS password you need to remove temporarily the CMOS battery , so to reset BIOS settings.

Some model may be using NV Ram, in that case removing the battery is not enough.

The battery is located on the lower side on the motherboard.

On many DELL models the battery can be accessed from the side of DVD slot, battery slot, or RAM slot, without disassemblying the laptop.

On some model you may need complete disassembly (eg. Dell Le series).

The battery looks like a couple of coin batteries wrapped in plastic.

Before disassemblying or removing covers, always unplug adapter and remove battery.

On Dell Inspiron 8500 the battery can be accessed from a side , after removing the primary battery.

I think Dell 8500 can be set to use NV Ram to store the password.
In this case the problem cannot be solved removing primary battery, then accessing and removing CMOS battery for few minutes.

If you still cannot reset you have two way out.

Disassemble completely and access the NVRAM microswitch, or contact Dell and get master password.

You can also try one of this standard Dell factory CMOS password:

ALFAROME
BIOSTAR
biostar
biosstar
CMOS
cmos
LKWPETER
lkwpeter
setup
SETUP
Syxz
Wodj
Dell

I have a wireless card in my Dell Dimension

The first thing I would try would be to reset the card, by removing the cover (if you are comfortable), removing the card from the slot and reinserting in the slot or moving the card to another slot (if there is an identical slot). If that doesn't work, replace the wireless card either with another wireless card or a USB wireless network adapter (external adapter that connects to a USB port). Good luck.
