I am assuming you mean the rear ones! you neeed to jack up and support the car, as you will be moving the rear subframe support the car on the forward end of the large arms that go to the floor (it is allways solid there) depending on the make and condition of the exhaust you might get away without disconnecting too much of it. support the subframe centrally with a jack, unbolt the 4 nuts and bolts that hold the mount to the subframe, lower the subframe enough to unbolt and change the rubber mounts, if the exhaust or brake flexy stop it dropping enough to change the mounts disconnect them, refit and tighten.

1985 jaguar xj6 has been sitting for over one year. will not turn over, but wants to. should the feul be added to carb. also since sitting so long what else should be some tips for the initial start up.

You might be able to pour a small amount of fuel in carb. A little at at time to get it primed. Once started get some fuel system cleaner into fuel to clear out any condensation and build up from sitting. Other things - do an oil change, check steering and suspension bushings, replace fuel filter, pull and visually inspect spark plugs, let car fully warm up before attempting to move - let transmission fully warm up and change trans fluid at earliest convenience, Make sure tires are safe- pressure and check for weather cracking and flat spots. Check all belts and hoses. This should get you started.

How do you change anti roll bar bushes on an audi a3 . do you have to drop the subframe,or can you just lossen the bolts.

I just loosen the bolts of the subframe and use a bar to pull it down abit , while my lad changes the bush, or you could pull it down a bit and block it with a bit of wood, so you can change the bush safely.

Remove rear bearing 1992 xj6 jaguar

what do you need to do? to remove the whole hub you need to undo the nut in the centre of the hub, support the car on stands on the subframe and remove the roadwheel, loosen and slide out the bolt holding the hub to the lower arm and tap the centre shaft out with a copper hammer (it should not be too tight) the long bolt has seals and shims in the hub, keep them in the same place. You can usually get a Haynes manual from the library, it will be a big help

Jerking motion in front end when applying brakes etc

Hi

I take it you mean the 2 large round bush rubbers, at front of the sub-frame with the large bolt through the center ?

Usually if they are shot, you can see the splitting in them, if they look OK, I do not think this is your problem

What about the 2 Top front cross member mountings, they have a habit of splitting away from the bonding, and this can give strange jerking problems.

Jack up the car on the cross member, and support the body on the 2 front jacking points, better to remove the wheels, and lower the jack a little, and you should be able to see any problem with them straight away, and see even better if you lever with a large screwdriver.

I hope this is of help.

Good Luck

John.

Xj8 2000

they are pressed in, Jaguar uses a special tool which fits over the bushing and you have to use a press to remove them, sometimes they are so tight they need to be burped out with an air hammer.
Not a job I would tackle myself as you need to strip down the suspension to get the arm off for replacement.
