If you Attack a External monitor does it work? Can you see the desktop on the external monitor? There are a few things to check, backlighting, Inverter board, the ribbon cable in the back of the monitor, the switch that controls the on/of when the lid is opened/closed, the monitor or graphics is gone/out. Take a look at this procedure to troubleshoot: http://www.google.com/webhp?source=search_app#q=troubleshoot+a+bad+inverter+board&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ei=TItDUYy1OrXk4AP-5oCICg&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAA&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.43828540,d.eWU&fp=2424e7d823784972&biw=1141&bih=593

I have an acer 2480 that doent wanna turn on

Hello

1 Check if you have the right power from the poweradapter.
2 check if the batteri is ok .Sometimes there is no connection so try to take it away to see if the computer starts, and put it back maybe you can work without a batteri if its bad.

3 Its the same with the harddrive if you know how to take it away and put it back. Take help from a friend if you dont know how.

if none of this things are working then there is a bigger problem with your computer, motherboard or processor could also be a virus.

Good Luck and
Best regards
Joakim

ACER TRAVEL MATE 2480 WILL POWER ON BUT SCREEN REMAINS BLANK.

look close to the screen and see if there is a faint picture. if there is then read below for the issues and solutions that can cause this problem.

Issue 1: Lid button sticking

this is a common issue with this model that the lid button sticks closed. fiddle with it to see if it opens and the light comes on.

issue 2: Inverter for the monitor is bad

this is not to uncommon an issue when this problems shows itself. Laptops monitors light up with a fluorescent bulb. This is powered by an inverter. These can go bad and if they do the light will not turn on. you need to take this to a service station. i don't recommend trying to replace without knowledge of this. They are high powered and you can hurt yourself or damage the screen

issue 3: fluorescent bulb went bad

this is usually the least common but could have happened. usually happens when peopel spray their screen with cleaner and it drips down inside the bottom. This can be fixed by a service center but coudl get costly. best bet is buy a new screen.

Screen goes bank after 2 seconds even if powder light is on

i just finished repairing a 20 inch acer monitor that had the same issue.... you have to take it apart and examine the power supply side of the monitor. there are capacitors that go bad on that board. you can tell be feeling the tops of them... the feel rounded. replace the capacitors and put it back together and it will work fine

Richard,
Open the back cover again and check the AD board connection it a wide flat cable, one end plugged to the panel with tape. Check that for lose connection, used your 2 thumbs put it all the way in... Now plugged all the cable in... tilt it up and turned on... if still come on with white screen...then you need a new AD board instead.
