The vent will turn on randomly and not turn off!

Most over the range microwaves have a heat safety system built into them. If for instance you are cooking on the stove top for a long period of time on the burner directly under the micro control panel and the control panel get too hot, a thermostat in the microwave will automatically turn on the vent fan to help keep the control panel cooled off. My guess is that the safety thermostat (usually right behind the bottom of the control panel) may be going bad and needs replaced.

Most Microwave turntables are driven by a small motor under ther bottom. They usually have a small access panel on the bottom that covers the motor.Remove panel and you will see motor with 2 wires going to it. 1 or 2 screws hold stirrer motor in place.

Vent fan wont turn off

Steve,

The vent fan is thermostat controlled to protect the control panel. Once the panel temp drops, this will turn off by itself. This is normal for this to occur when your steaming and cooking for a long time. Good Luck

Turntable does not turn

Possible that the belt has failed, or the motor is not working or that there is no power from the control panel to the motor.
You need to remove the bottom panel to observe this and confirm.

Control panel seems to be responsive, internal

Make sure the glass platter is correctly seated on the plastic drive. Now gently press down on the platter and see if it resists turning. If the platter turned easily, the plastic drive is spinning on the motor shaft and needs replaced. If the platter resists movement, the motor under the floor needs to be replaced. It's probably a failed hood thermostat. That is usually located on the chassis floor behind the control panel.

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE Profile turned off as soon as it start

If you can program it and the problem occures when you push START. Then the problem is a door switch, or the control panel not having a completed circuit. Think of your control panel as an off-on switch.COOK, the control panel switches on for 100% of the time programed. DEFROST,The control panel turns the Cook-Relay on for 30% and off for 70%, on, off, on, off,for the time you programmed for DEFROST. This is how it works. There is no lowering of the output. The output is 100% anything other than COOk is done in % of time on, % of time off. This is why you can hear a "Bump" when Defrosting. The "Bump" is the Cook-Relay sending power to the High Voltage Side, 30% on, 70% off.
