Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

PS3 will not accept disc

The motor is not pulling the disc in as it should. The only way I can get working is to force the disc in and power the console on and off.

This sounds like an over heating issue. Do any fans come on when you first start up the system?

SOURCE: cd drive won't pull disc into console

Do you have a warranty? If you do, go to the place where you got it and have them check the inside. You may have a broken gear. That could be why it does not take in the disc or eject it. =D

SOURCE: When the ps3 turns on the blue light saying a disc

The most common reason for the game not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:

store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your game including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your game going again!.

Good luck.

Disc Stuck In 60G Console

  • Press the "Eject" button on the PlayStation 3 console and hold it for at least 10 seconds; if your PS3 has the "force eject" feature included it will eject the disc regardless of whether the console is frozen or not. Turn off the console and turn it back on before inserting new discs.

  • Unplug the power cord and any other cords from the PS3 console if the "force eject" feature does not work and you own a PS3 Slim. Turn the console upside down so that you have access to the bottom of the console.

  • Locate the small compartment door on the bottom of the console. Remove the door by pulling it up and off the console; a blue screw and a small hole should be visible inside the compartment.

  • Insert a Phillips-head screwdriver into the hole. Turn the screwdriver in a counterclockwise direction to manually eject the disc. Once the disc is removed, replace the compartment door and turn the PS3 console back to its correct position before reconnecting the power cable and any other cables you previously removed.

Im unable to install disc in drive

I have seen several suggestions at the playstation*com PS3 forums in the past, such as:

    |
    | Zr0_C00L wrote:Try turning it off from the back,
    | then hold the eject button while you flip the back
    | power switch back on. Worked for my buddies
    | when his died (good thing too, it was my game
    | in there!)
    |
    | i too did the same thing and it worked for me.
    |

This one with multiple discs jammed it sounds like it may apply to you:

"If anyone is having any problems, this is what worked for me. What is more amazing is that my son somehow managed to force 3 discs into that tiny slot...no idea how he pulled that one off.

So after two hours, a pair of tweezers, a fork, and a butterknife, I decided to try one last thing before giving up. I put the PS3 on its nose, disc tray down, held the eject button while it was on, and pushed a disc in and out of the drive. This caused whatever was in there to finally 'catch' as the drive had been trying to force everything out. After 2-3 minutes of play, a disc finally poked out. I pulled what i thought was one and two discs came out. I set it back down flat, tried to put a cheap DVD in (didn't want to test it with a $60 game) and it seemed something was still in there. I hit eject and out came the third disc. I put the DVD in reluctantly and the PS3 took it and loaded it right up. Unbelievable. After all this abuse, it's apparent these things are built like tanks."

    You gotta love children.
    Hope that helps.

Comments: Oh, one more thing I remembered to try before you ship it off to Sony or open it up. Touch the eject button on the PLAYSTATION 3 system front for 10 seconds or longer to force the disc to eject. After removing and before reinserting a disc into the PLAYSTATION 3, turn off the system, and then turn on the system again to resume use.

Playstation wont take any disc it'l eject but not insert

i have seen this before... there is a little eye inside the ps3 bluray drive that senses when a disc enters and starts turning wheels with rubber feet on them to pull the disc in. when that eye goes bad for what ever reason the only way to get it to accept discs is to force it in slightly and it will spread the acceptance arms and pull it in. if it will not eject the disc correctly then the drive has been disassembled and needs to be reseated until it function right.

the acceptance eye is fairly cheap to buy online but can be a pain to replace if you dont know what you are doing.

    PS3 will not accept discs

sounds like a product fault, is it still within warranty? id have that sent off and checked

or are there some kind of settings, one of the settings may be interfering with it accepting discs

what discs are you trying to use? if you are using genuine PS3 dics and even DVD movies wont be accepted then there must be a fault in the system somewhere

also, how long have you had it? less than a year and theres definitely a problem

i'll be honest, i aint a Playstation Guru, but this is what im thinking it may be, i may be wrong, if i am then dont hesitate to pull me up i am willing to learn ;)

My son has put two discs in ps3 and cant get either out now

I researched this problem since my twin 2 1/2 year old sons decided that my PS3 was hungry and needed a steady diet of 3 discs all at once. On a similar discussion board, someone discussed using butter knives to pinch the discs (one on top and one on bottom) and pull them out. This worked to perfection! Just be sure to pull the power cable from the back of your PS3 prior to sticking any objects (i.e. metal knives) into the front of it.

    Wont accept disc

Try this....after a lot of frustration and research, what i found on the internet for this problem was usless. I tried holding down the eject button for 15 seconds to reset the disc drive, still it would'nt accept the disc. As i literally picked up the phone to ring sony, as the ps3 was on standby i pressed the eject button multiple times and heard 2 beeps each time, still the system stayed on standby. After that i then tried just putting the disc in as normal as its on standby and the system booted automatically and accepted my disc. I hope this helps others, as mine now works perfectly.
