Question about Gateway Refurbished $30 P1 TO USA - BOARD SYSTEM 200ARC W/P4/1.4 PURCH (BA4100353A) Motherboard

Gateway 200arc motherboard problem

I have a Gateway 200ARC that pwr supply burnt out (literally smoked). Opened up and found bad transformer. Purchased new pwr supply, wouldn't boot up. Pwr light would come on when plugged in and push pwr button twice to try to turn on. Second light lit but no boot-up. Replaced motherboard (upgraded from a 1.5ghz to a 1.7ghz) and replaced dc/dc converter board. Still doing the same thing. No boot but 2 lights on front light up and that's it. Unplugged hard drive, dvd rom, modem, wi-fi, and tried switching memory sticks in various orders of succession. Still nothing. Used an actual DC pwr supply set to 19V and saw when I try to turn on, it only draws .5 amps. Did I get a bad part or am I missing something?

The motherboard is BA41-00353A and the converter board is BA41-00418A.

If there are two wires running from the power button on your case to the motherboard, take them off and try jumpering those two terminals with a jumper or something that will make contact for just a second and them take back off. Your power button may have fried along with the power supply.

How do I nremove the cover on a Gateway 200arc to replace the DVD drive..... Thanx

Looking at it from the bottom with the dvd drive to your right look for a screw about five and a half inches or so from the right hand side will either be in the middle line of the dvd drive or offset to oneside or the other. remove it and gently pull on the dvd drive or use an old credit card to pry it out till the connectors release. Then slide the replacement drive into place, and put the screw you removed back in.

No operating system found, gateway 200arc

Presuming its not the worst (your hard disk has failed) quite often this is the simplest of you have left a USB stick in...these are often bootable and so the computer tries to boot from them fist, and then doesnt bother trying your propper hard disk next..hence fail.
also check if you mahine has a floppy disk drive there is none in it.
other than that.
check that your bios recognises it.
by which I mean usualy on startup it offers you an option to go into setup.
[f1] or sometime [del] or whatever.
go into there ensure that your HDD is recognised by the system and check its listed in boot order also (only change these if its not one of the simpler problems above)

This is built into a gateway 200arc notebook. when the wireless is turned on the system can't even get through a win xp boot up. turn is off and system boots all the way. turn on the wireless whil in...

Try starting the OS in safe mode (hit F8 immediately after the BIOS screen until you see a menu) and replace the driver with the newest available driver. Try the gateway provided driver first, but if that doesn't work, you can always try to download the newest driver direct from Intel.

My 200ARC notebook/laptop will not power-up I have replaced the battery but it just won't turn on HELP!

If you replaced the battery and still no go it's probably your motherboard. You can try reseating the memory but if you're not getting any life out of the machine then for sure it's the motherboard.

Computer will not go into STBY or Hibernate when lid is closed

if the option is checked, and it doesn't work, the switch under the screen to base closing needs to be adjusted/replaced. i would double check settings and intallation disk if this does not work.

If it is a copy, and not genuine, it won't work. It is impossible to make an exact copy of Microsoft product CDs. They detect it. Also, if you do install it, you cannot use it without any limitations.
So be legal and search for an old XP CD. It is out of sale now, until stocks last, but it went out 6 months ago.
You can buy and install the superb new Vista or even buy and download it safely from the Microsoft website.
