Kichenaid Handle Spring Mechanism

Kitchenaid KFP1333 - The food processor wasn't turning on when the bowl was installed - switch worked to turn on motor - culprit was the little black extrusion in the handle that presses the motor switch. Even with the top on, the plastic extrusion wasn't extending far enough to turn the motor switch on. I took apart the handle to see if something was hanging up the mechanism. There's a piece with springs on either, however, that piece fell off and so did the springs - before I had a chance to see what position they were in. So I just need to know how to position the springs to make the mechanism work correctly. I'm guessing that's all that needs to be done, but this is like a Rube Goldberg machine where all these pieces are in place just to turn on a simple switch. REALLY? Do all these pieces need to work together in a complex manner just to insure the switch is turned on??

SOURCE: The plastic ? bowl of the processor is stuck

With the food processor I have it will not allow you to remove the bowl unless the top is off.Try take the top off or putting it on.Then remove it from the processor.

It sounds like you need a new working bowl. It is not uncommon for that safety switch mechanism to fail inside the handle.

My kitchenaid processor is not working


The Kitchenaid food processors have a few safety features implimented. If the unit is not assembled properly, this may prevent the unit from turning on. I am thinking this is an issue of assembly because the light is on, so the unit is definitely getting power.

Proper assembly is below:

If it isn't all ready, please disassemble the entire unit. This means removing the blade and/or disc, blade, removing work bowl, work bowl lid, and blade.

Start by placing the work bowl onto the motor base. The work bowl handle should be facing at 9 o'clock, which is out to your left. Rotate the handle downward until it locks in at the 6 o'clock position, which will lock over the center of the button panel.

Repeat the process with the work bowl lid. The blade does not need to be present for the motor to engage, if this is an assembly issue.

Need to clean inside of handle on KitchenAid food processor


The plastic for the work bowl / handle is molded and one piece and cannot be disassembled. My best recommendation is to call Kitchenaid customer service to see what recommendations they have. Within one year warranty, they may replace the work bowl at no cost.

KitchenAid Food Processor 770 won't run


I am assuming the unit is getting power. The "power" LED should be lit up on the front of the unit.

If this has not resolve the issue, please ensure the outlet is receiving power.

If the unit is still not functioning, take a close look at the bottom of the work bowl where it meets to the motor base. The work bowl, when locked in, depressed a gray plastic peg. This is the safety mechanism. You may trying depressing this peg on your own with a pencil. If this activates the motor, this may indicate your work bowl is no longer seating correctly.

Also check the work bowl handle to make sure nothing is cracked. There is a plastic assembly in the handle that acts as a second safety feature.

If either of these things seems to be the culprit, I would suggest seeking a new work bowl or work bowl lid to correct the issue.

Bowl handle doesn't make connection


I had this problem, I finally stuffed a tiny piece of tin foil into the hole the spring is supposed to go into to activate the machine. It works, but it is always on, even if the bowl is not locked into place so I have to be careful. I just store it unplugged.

My food processer does not work


I had the exact same problem. The red light came on when I hit the "On" button, but nothing happened. Then I noticed that when the lid is locked into place, a small pin in the handle goes into a small hole in the base. I took a wooden chopstick and poked it in this hole in the base, and the unit started running. I put the bowl and lid back on the unit and locked them into place, and this time the unit ran just fine. Yeah! I will remember this the next time my unit won't run even though I know that I've properly locked down the bowl and lid. Good luck!
