Question about Kenmore 83142 Electric Dryer

Kenmore dryer squeeling

Kenmore 417.83142201 has a loud squeeling sound. I assume the belt is bad due to some black residue on the back of panel. What is the order of dismantling the dryer housing/shell so I can get to the belt, motor, bearings, etc.

FIRST ALWAYS UNPLUG THE MACHINE ANYTIME YOU WORKING ON IT ,
it sounds like if you can see some black dust you have bad wheels i will suggest to replace the drum wheels.the belt an the tensioner since you can get all of them for under 40 dollars IS CHEAPER IF YOU ASK FOR A DRYER KIT .
is worth to do it all since you are there, in order to open it you have to take the 2 screws off the top (filter panel) remove the filter panel, then you may need to use a putty knife to pry the top open (front of the machine top cover an front cover you will see the clips maybe 3 inches away from the corner, then one open remove the front panel 2 screws 5/16 lift an tilt the door an your in, lift the tensioner an remove the belt from the motor, lift drum an remove it then ur in,,,,,,,to assemble follow steps back n ur done!

When I put the wet clothes in the dryer and I start it up there is a very loud none stopping squeaking/squeeling sound

Might be a bad belt or bad tension roller wheel. You would have to dismantle the machine.

11087088601 dyer squeels at start; will stop after a bit

The belt is loose and is most likely due to the belt being stretched out. Replace the belt and the tensioner also to solve this squeal.

Dryer making a high pitch squeeling sound when

The idler bearing that keeps tension on the belt is going out due to heat leaching the grease out of it. Have it replaced.

Front loading kenmore 86983110 makes loud noise when turned on. Think that there is a problem with the belt. I am tryng to take it apart now and do not know how to find the belt

The belt is located at the back of the appliance.

To remove belt you have to remove a panel at the back, on some model you remove top panel first.

The belt does not make loud noise. Loud noise when spinning is usually caused by bad drum bearing, located at the back of the drum.

Regards.

Removing the back of the dryer

to get at belt you will need to get true the front of dryer. When you have top up there should be 2 screws on both inside corners on front panel remove them and lift up and towards you the front panel should come off. After that look under drum .Sounds like your belt sliped off the idler pully you can then put belt back on and reverse the steps. If any more help needed feel free to ask hope i fixya:)

Dryer started out squeeling and now is making loud sounds?

This is very likely due to bad drum support rollers which is really not a difficult repair on these dryers.

Squeeling sound on spin cycle

This sounds like the same problem I had with my 887-327. It seems that coins can fall into the water pump from the bottom of the drum. I had to pull the water pump off the direct drive and turn the blades until the dimes came out. After I reinstalled the pump everything was quite again.

Loud noise when dryer is running.

My guess is that the belt is going bad. It could also be a bad bearing...the noise is generally metallic. Also...a bad belt tensioner comes to mind.
