To me it sounds like a defrost element could be bad.

My samsung side by side was working great untill

You have an automatic defrost problem. The refrigerator is not defrosting
Three important parts. It probably is one of these.
Defrost Timer
Defrost thermostat
defrost heater.
The fan is probably fine, but has nothing to do with Defrost
Check the heater continuity and change the heater defrost thermostat
then replace timer if those don't solve it.

Refrigerator side problem

most likely has a low refrigerant level due to a slow can call for service and have them add some gas to the system and it could be ok for a long time or if they can locate and repair the leak,it would solve the a few service companies and explain the problem.Ask how much each option would cost and decide if the frig is worth it

The refrigerator side won't cool and the coils are frozen. I have deiced the coils anyone know why it does this?

if the coil keeps freezing over it could be a few things, if the fan is working, it could be a problem with the defrost cycle, defrost bi metal, defrost timer, or defrost heater would need checked to determin which componet is bad.
