Question about Sony DVP-SR500H DVD Player
Whenever I eject a disc, the drawer almost immediately closes so that I have to manually hold the drawer open, while it is trying to close, to be able to get my disc out or put one in. Can this be fixed? This DVD player is not even 2 years old
It seems like the gear has skipped, you will no doubt have to take it apart and reset the gear to the proper position, There may be a "C" ring retaining the gear to the spindle, you should be able to remove it with a small screwdriver - you may want some safety glasses.
When taking it apart you may want to use some cardboard to press the screws into so you remember where they came from and don't lose any parts.
Usually there is a space in the gear that should be about 45 from the start of the gear at the closed position. You want to make sure in most cases that the tray is either in the fully open or fully closed position before attempting to reposition any gears.
I find it useful to take pictures of each step of the process so you know exactly where everything should be when you put it back together.
Hoped that helped. Good luck.
