Try checking the transmisson fluid level if it is low this could cause the problem you are describing, any slight loss of transmiion fluid can cause the transmisson shift to shift incorrectly.
The spider gear is probely worn out if so replace transmisson easy to find i junck yard or remove shifter and check pattern in top of transmisson and try to shift with a large screw driver with engine off and with out engaugeing clutch. berrydalewolf
HI, this is a defective control solenoid. have it replaced asap. it is located inside the trans pan. this will require you to drain the trans fluid as well. the control solenoid runs directly into the valve body.
automatic transmission will not shift out of first gear. We have replace the solenoids in the valve body 3 of them , could the pcm computer be bad or does the tranny need to be rebuilt? The 2005 ford 250 has only 21000 miles but it did have a snow plow on it. It did pull trailers.
Solenoid or shifting governor. I am aware of a governor on the passenger side of that tranny. It has like a coat hanger type lock over it. It just pulls out once you get the cap off. Let me know if you can't find it.
