good day sir
that is a common problem of all DVD...there's a D.I.Y. for that,, try to clean the lens by using cotton buds and remember don't any chemical compound just cotton buds only
or you can use a CD cleaner to clean the lens,,
and the last is when cleaning is not effective it means the DVD lens is defective need to replace a new one if you will
or give to the expert technician because replacing the lens is very difficult because it have a proper alignment...thank you and good luck

My kid broke the blue optical lens in Sony DVP-FX930 Portable DVD Player. Can i replace the optical lens part from any other dvd drives or is it unique to sony. Please advice.

Portable DVD players are made up of the dvd mechnism, control motherboard and LCD panel. You can buy a defective Sony unit on ebay for parts and replace the dvd mechanism assembly.

Most defective portable dvd players are defective on the control motherboard, just read the defects disclosed on ebay items to decide which one to buy to fix yours.

Incert dvd read out sats NO

This usually happens when the DVD or laser lens pick-up has become dirty. All you need to do is

1. Check the disk for scratches.

2. Make sure the disk you are using fit the correct format specified by your DVD player.

3. Clean the laser lens with a DVD laser cleaning disk.

4. Insert a correctly formatted undamaged disk into your player, listen to see if it begins to read the disk,if it continues to make no sound.

5. Open the DVD player carefully and clean the lens with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swab.

6. If none of these solutions works out then a professional repair technician will be able to tell you if fixing your DVD player is worth the money.

I get a no disc error and so far blowing air in it has not helped

It sounds optical laser lens is dirty and need cleaning.
Put lens cleaning disc in player and press play, disc will spin and might clean lens to solve the issue.
If that does not fix the problem, unplug player from wall socket, take off top cover and clean lens with good quality cotton bud gently and then check does it play disc. If problem still exist then optical lens got defective and need to be replaced. Local tv repair shop will replace it but replacement would cost you much.
Hope these info will help you.

The dvd recorder will not recognize any discs. It attempts to read then states "no disc" or "no read". Can this be repaired or is the laser dead?

Hi! there are many reasons why a dvd is note reading. 1. dirty pick up lens, 2. defective spindle motor, 3. defective ribbon wire, 4. defective pick-up lens and defective mpeg board. but first things first try cleaning your pick-up lens with a cd lens cleaner.

I have a Zenith DVP615 Portable DVD Player when i put a disk in it says check disk but will not play, the disks are fine but no play.

In this case maybe you have defective Ribbon wire or defective Lens,.

ok Please clean the lens with 100% cotton first, if not reading after you clean the lens, kindly replace the ribbon wire, then test run, if not reading again replace the lens you have defective lens..

Rca portable dvd player model drc6318e doesnt not load dvd. says no disc. how do i fix that?

first you must check if your portable loads cd or mp3. If it loads cd or mp3 the defect is lens and this should be replace by an expert. If both cd,mp3 and dvd didn't load you check first the ribbon wire for signs of disconnection and foldings and then replace it. If still your portable didn't work the most probable defect is MPEG board. To distinguish if MPEG or lens defect in lens shows malfunction such as not reading dvd but reading mp3 or cd, unwanted stop of play even with a good dvd.

My daughters GoVideo DVD player always says CHECK DISC!

If no disk is detected it means that the lens are dirty or defective.
If the lens cleaner disk, or using Qtips and alcohol did not work, then the lens pickup or the disk drive must be replaced. this involves precision soldering and must be done by a technician. Regards.

My dvd will not play, it keeps saying that the disc may be scratched or dirty. It says this for every dvd i try. it is a pv-d4752

they are 4 type to troubleshoot this problem!
1. Dirty Lens (Clean the Lens)
2. You have dafective Flex ribbon Wire (Replace a new one)
3. You have defective Pickup lens (Replace a new one)
4. You have defective Motherboard (replace a new one)

This is a simple troubleshoot a DVD all types...

But for me try the 123 not 4 if you have a knowledge in basic electronic repairing...
