Question about Dunlop Manufacturing Dunlop JD4s Rotovibe (with )

Open Question

My Dunlop Rotovibe makes a crackling noise. It's bad when on, but still heard when off.

I sent it back to Dunlop and they said the could not duplicate the issue, but say they replaced the board anyways. I use it 2nd in line after a wah, but have tried it before as well (straight in after the guitar, not in the effects loop, but it still does it in the loop). It does the crackle whether on or off, no matter which guitar or amp I use.

I have vms4 decks, when i play a tune on my right deck i get serious crackling noise out of my speakers and headphones...any advice please guys?

Have you tried isolating the problem, like switching cables from the left side that is not making noise? Also check connections,
I say this all the time and use all the time.... electronics spray contact cleaner, usually takes care of crackling noises
really hope this helps?

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Works great except when I turn the amp off it crackles pretty loud. It takes about 5-10 seconds for the crackle is heard. If I turn the standby switch first, then wait a minute or...

As voltages drop, electronics gets unstable as it goes down and becomes noisy... this may be the nature of this beast. Opening the standby might be the best way to avoid the problem.. Here is your schematic for service:

Scroll down to "get manual" and click to download. IGNORE other download links.
Opening the standby switch turns off power to the main amp so noise generated in the preamp will not be amplified.

Hello, sorry becouse my bad english but, i cant uncover my dunlop MXR fullbore metal... the bolts are so pressed, is please.. another question.. can I plug in other transformer, must be 9v...

You can try a couple of techniques to open the box.

Use a hair dryer to heat the bolts up which may weaken the hold. Use only enough heat to loosen the bolts. Do this by applying some heat and then try to loosen the bolt then apply a little more heat and try it again. If you have to apply so much heat that it may damage the finish or case stop applying heat and let the unit cool down. The heat caused the case to expand and when it contracts back to its normal size try to loosen the bolt again. Last is to cool the box in a refrigerator for a while in order to contract the metal and try to loosen the bolt.

Any nine volt AC adapter rated at 200mA or greater with a 5 5mm negative center plug will work with your unit.

All lights on and no sound . Only work in bypass .

Make sure you have the in and output cable to the correct side. If backward it would act as yours does. If they are correct, time for servicing the unit.

I have a dunlop harris slide & trying to find out if wider(flared end) goes on finger first or if smaller end goes on first, or if it makes a difference.Help greatly appreciated. Buck

Using the Flared side down will fit the bottom strings better since a neck has a natural curve in it so hitting every note fluidly is very easy without getting better sounds out of the strings most of straight slides hit. Good Luck, Cody J.

Sound comes and goes on the drive channel, and there is a strange crackling on the clean channel. i dont know if its the tubes, the speaker, or electronics.

Using a common lead pencil, gently tap on the smaller tubes in the unit, listening for noises and crackling to change and the drive channel changes.

It is normal to get a slight twang when doing this from the microphonics of the tubes, however, the crackling and up and down volume points to a bad tube.
