Question about KitchenAid KSRD25FK Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

Our 1992 KitchhenAid side by side refrigerator model ksrb25qa has given up the ghost. We would like to purchase a new refrigerator with the same dimentions as the old refrig. We need the same size dimentions for two reasons; 1) to be able to slip it in to the built in space from which the old one was taken. 2) so that we can re-use the wood panel kit from the original refrig. doors. They were expensive and they match our cabinets perfectly. doors 35.5 wide (combined) doors 63.5 high freezer door(on left) has 14.5 X 14.5 water & ice opening refrigerator over-all hight 69.5 aluminum handles fro top to bottom Would you please advise me as to what new refrige could fill that bill? Many thanks, Katherine

Thanks for the recommendation of the black kitchenaid. I checked out the website but there is no indication as to whether we can re-cycle our wood panel kit.
-Are you sure this refrig, will accomidate the wood panel facade?
-Also, is there a refige. you might recommend that is less expensive & will answer our needs?
    Thanks again,
    Katherine

Hi Katherine,

There are many models which fit in the exact size and shape and requirement as you have mentioned. I would advise to stick to KithcenAid products as you have already been using them . There fore I would recomend to have a look at the bellow mentioned model which have similar specification with good style and performance in the link bellow:

Kitchenaid KSRS25RVBL Black :

Note: being black in color it might push your budget a bit but worth spending. As a technicial guy I have not come across any problems with this model,

Thank You

How to reinsert ice maker into 1992 Model TS25AF

You unscrew the srews holding the ice maker into the refrigerator. There may be 2 or 3. Then you should unplug any electrical connection, and saw on another site you need to remove the arm and install it onto the new ice maker. Then replace the new ice maker into refrigerator. There should be a different piece that's actually connected to the water input and then sends the water into the Icemaker.

I have a hotpoint refrigerator hss25gfpjww...symptoms I was having are ghost noises and water not working...the ice does work. I have replaced the water filter and the motherboard and the ghost noises have...

I have a GE. Same 2 problems. I still have the ghost, but I fixed the water. There is a coiled up tubing inside the refrigerator behind the vegetable drawer. It was frozen. I took the drawer out and turned the rerigerator off and left the door open for about 4 hours while we watched tv. Tried to run the water with no success. Just about to give up when all of a sudden water flowed. It happened 1 more time, but not for about 6 months now.

What's the ghost noise solution?

Low and high side of the A/C system and type of refrigerant?

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The High side & Low side valves are located in the engine compartment, and can be found on the aluminum lines running from the condenser to the firewall (a bigger tube, this is the HIGH side), and from the firewall to the condensor (in front of the radiator), & back to the compressor (this is the LOW side/a smaller tube). Regarding the refrigerant, you may have a dilemma. Most LCs in 92 came with R-12 freon, and is very expensive to purchase, and, in some places, a license is needed to purchase it. Your system *** may *** have been retrofitted with the "new" style (the "enviromentally friendly" type R-134A) refrigerant. To determine this, look under the caps on the abovementioned tubes. If the metal fittings are small & threaded, you have the original system. If the fittings are large, and are screwed onto a smaller fitting, and are grooved at the center of the upright stem, you have the newer style. You would also have rather large caps with a "H" ans an "L" imprinted on them. If you need to add refrigerent, add whatever refrigerant required into the LOW side, until the bubbles seen in the sight glass adjjacent to the radiator (on the Low side tube) disappear.

My Kenmore side by side stopped cooling

I think your compressor has given up the ghost. Yes it is possible that it could be a relay problem but not likely.
