Question about Frigidaire FRS23H5AS Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

FRS26LR5CW0 frigidaire I am getting a voltage surge to the condensor fan. It starts very low surges of about 50 volts, then gradually getts more volts whole pulsating back to 0 between surges. After about 2 minutes of this surging, the voltage finally reaches 120 and the compresor fan stays running.

SOURCE: refridgerator no longer colling but fans are working

It impossible to tell via the internet without detailed descriptions of what you have tested, checked etc...However it sounds like maybe the compressor relay has failed if you are lucky, they are only around $50. If the compressor failed, then time for a new one probably if its more than 5 years old or if its a 2006 or newer.

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then checkout the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to starttrouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then callinga repair person to do a simple thing for you...

My LCDTV/DVDCOMBO , MODEL NO /3255HD ,Had a power surge from a 5.5 Kva generator , is there any internal surge protection if so were , if not which curcit board would be damaged .?

most likely the power circuits as there is no internal surge protection
have the set properly diagnosed and go from there
always use a power board with surge protection for all electronic equipment
as the voltage from a genset is reasonably well controlled , even at over rpms the voltage would not go high enough to cause damage for example a 240 volts running at correct rpms will only get to 255 volts uncontrolled rpms as the governor lever is fully open
however a lower voltage (200 volts ) increases amp flow and that is probably what did the damage

What type of AC adapter does the T790 ellictical machine needs also the voltage and polarity

Dear Sir:

Please read carefully:
Your treadmill, like any other type of sophisticated
electronic equipment, can be seriously damaged by
sudden voltage changes in your homeõs power.
Voltage surges, spikes, and noise interference can
result from weather conditions or from other appliances
being turned on or off. To decrease the possibility of
your treadmill being damaged, always use a surge
suppressor with your treadmill (see drawing 1 at
the right).
To purchase a surge suppressor, see your local
PROFORM dealer or call toll-free 1-800-366-7278
and order part number 14657. Use only a single-outlet
surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient
voltage surge suppressor (TVSS). The surge
suppressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating
of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of
450 joules. The surge suppressor must be electrically
rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps.
This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction
or break down, grounding provides a path of least
resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric
shock. This product is equipped with a cord having
an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding
plug. Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor,
and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate
outlet that is properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

If you need Extra help please reach me inmediately.

sincerely. blessing.

it is possible u got some surge voltage or low voltage and that could fry your compressor.. your fans could be running but no comp. you might check the start relay on the comp. ok.

New compressor, very expensive repair, unless it is under the 5 year system warrantee. If it is out of warrantee then junk it. Buy a Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid refrigerator, and buy a wall mount 2000 joule or higher surge protector to help prevent this from happening again. Lowes has the "Prime" brand surge protectors for 12.00 to 20.00. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Hi,
Line conditioners and surge protectors both help to prevent voltage in your devices from shooting up and damaging computers, game consoles, or other machines which use a power cable rather than batteries. In everyday use line conditioners can prevent changes from voltage in making the lights or dim or brighten, meaning you can have a consistent supply of 120 volts per second.
Surge protectors on the other hand are smaller and cheaper than line conditioners, these prevent high-voltage from being transmitted to your device, so excessive power doesn't cause your machine to die, or suffer catastrophe. Surge protectors needs to be replaced every few years so in the long run this can make them more expensive than line conditioners.

No resistance to check or adjust, with key on, one wire will have 5.0 volts, the next one should have about .50 (1/2) volt give or take .10 volts, the last wire is ground, check with volt meter, connect ground from volt meter on to battery ground, and probe with pos. probe, the wire with 5 volts is out put from ECM, and the one with .50 volts is in put to ECM, to check TPS, on the wire with .50 volts, as you open throttle voltage should go up to 5.0 volts, with no drop in voltage, as you open throttle, if there is voltage drop, bad TPS, to adjust, on wire with .50 volts, with key on, engine off, should read .50 volts, if more or less volts, loosen screws on TPS and adjust to .50 volts, hope this was very helpful.

If the power supply is good then your motherboard must have gone bad during a surge.

1988 f-250 w? a 351 windsor is surging...is it the map sensor?

HI. there are several problem areas that will need to be inspected. follow the list below to address this issue further.

CHECK LIST:

1. Fuel Filter. If the filter has not been change recently, this will be the culprit. Clogs in the filter will cause surging. replace if needed

2. Intake Manifold Gasket. Check this gasket for leaks, or worn edges. replace if damage is visible.

3. Fresh Air Intake Hose. This hose may be clogged, or damaged. inspect for these faults. replace if needed.

4. Fuel Pump. A weak, or poorly grounded pump will cause low fuel pressure, in return, causing the surge effect. inspect the fuel pump for these faults. replace if needed.

5. Fuel Injectors. A dirty, or faulty injector will cause the surge as well. inspect the injectors for faults. replace any injector that is faulty.

6. Oxygen sensor(s). A faulty O2 sensor will promote surging as well. This will usually be accompanied by an illuminated check engine light. If this is the case. the O2 sensors should be changed.

7. Carburetor. A Dirty and Improperly Functioning Carburetor will cause the surge effect, also. Check to make sure the carb is functioning correctly(IF EQUIPPED)

8. Map Sensor . A defective manifold absolute pressure sensor may cause a rich or lean air/fuel ratio, excessive fuel consumption, and engine surging. this diagnosis applies to map sensors that produce an analog voltage signal. To check the sensor, back-probe the 5-volt reference wire(with the ignition on), and connect a voltmeter from the reference wire to ground. If the reference wire is not supplying the specified voltage, check the voltage on this wire at the computer. If the voltage is within specifications at the computer, but low at the sensor, repair the reference wire. When this voltage is low at the computer, check the voltage supply wires and ground wires on the computer. If these wires are satisfactory, replace the computer.

With the ignition switch on, connect the voltmeter from the sensor ground wire to the battery ground. If the voltage drop across this circuit exceeds specifications, repair the ground wire from the sensor to the computer.

This concludes the surge inspection chart. you will find the issue in one, or more of the areas stated above.

Hi,

Surge protector, minimizes voltage spikes or burst that could damage your electronics. You may not see it doing anything but it does. It clips those voltages to the right rating befrore letting them in to your system.

I hope this helps.

Amana side by side refrigerator compressor locked up

More than likely, if there were any power issues,it would be low voltage that would cause it to overheat and lock up shaft to bearing. But power surges can cause problems if they are sustained as well. Nameplate rating on these is 115 volts and it will operate up to 10% above or below that voltage (+/- 11.5 volts). But when you get to the fringe voltages for extended periods you increase the risks of failures.
