Question about Whirlpool LSB6200KQ Top Load Washer

1 Answer

My Whirlpool washer LA768M leaks water during the cycle.

During heavy loads in particular, water seeps out of the front of the washer. There has also been an oily substance associated with the leak. Is this a bad pump? How difficult is it to replace?

Hi, it does sound like a pump but, you should not have oil with it. Tip the washer back against the wall and look underneath to see if there is transmission fluid/oil leaking.
Please let me know and I can assist you with changing the pump.

Thanks
Vic

If you have the capability its probably a leaking seal on the water input line at thetop of the water. Often its a simple hoseclamp that needs tightening. Without looking myself thats the easiest solution. Hope this helps!

Water was seeping thru the front opening while weasher was not in use. not an external leak. turned off both water suppiles and the water leak stopped. siounds to me like an internal valve leak

you need to change out the water valve on the washer.open the door and look for the model number.call your parts store and give them the full model number off of the washer, look around the opening on the frame where the door closes into and they will sell you the correct part

Water seeps into Whirpool Duet washer

If your washer is leaking water when it is not in use, the following link explains how to troubleshoot to isolate the cause:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3753262-front_load_washer_fills_when_not_in_use

The problem is either attributed to a defective pressure switch or a water inlet valve that is leaking by. The link I provided will explain how to determine which one.

If you still require assistance, please let me know.

Leak with heavy load

Is the machne noisy? If not, it may soon become noisy. Sounds as if the grease seal protecting the basket spindle bearings is leaking. soon the bearings will fail

Greasy oil and water is leaking from under the washing machine?

Hello, the good news is the water is coming from the pump and is easily replaced, the bad news is if you are seeing a yellow oily substance your transmission has a leak and will go bad at some stage soon. The question here you need to ask yourself is do you want to spend $35 on a new pump when your going to need to buy a new washer? If so pull the machine out and puch it back so it leans against the wall umder it's own weight. wedge some thing underneath the washer so you can access the bottom without the washer falling on you. you will see the pump attached to the motor which is attached to the transmission. remove the 2 clips and 2 pipes from the pump, remove the pump and replace it, reassemble in reverse order, you should be able to see where the leak came from the pump at the point where the motor shaft connected to the pump. Also while you are under there look at the base of the transmission, you should see some oily residue where the transmission fluid is leaking. Hope this helps! if you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! Mike

likely a rubber gasket slipped off the groove.... try taking it apart and slipping the gasket back on.

heavy loads have more force during the spin cycle.

Kenmore 22422 seeping water from under machine

look underneath the washer.there sould be a hose there.sometimes an unbalanced load can cause the hose to rub up against sharp metal when the machine vibrates.mine had a zip tie that held the hose to close to the edge of the machine which had some sharp metal and it put a small hole in the hose.hope this helps.
