Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Convergence amp I have a Toshiba Model 42H82 TV that the convergence amp was replaced about 1.5 years ago. Now the convergence is acting up again and the outside alignment won't adjuct to correct the double vision on words and pictures. How long should a replacement convergence amp last and how much are they to replace? I know the part can't be more than $30 but a repair man will charge est $500 to fix. Do you recommend doing it yourself? How hard would it be to fix for a novice? Where can someone buy the part?

You usually have to replace the two ICs at the same time along with resistors to get the longest life from the Convergence amps. You can get the repair kit for your model at the following link which contains both ICs and all 6 resistors plus instructions with pictures that explain how to do the repair yourself. Heres a link to the correct kit for your model Toshiba.

Seeing double colors don't line up

This is usually a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. Please confirm your model number (42H82) and whether or not you wish to attempt the repair yourself and I will provide additional details and instructions.

Thanks,

Toshiba 42H82 Blue raster is bowed to the right in the middle to the rt. The auto convergence give an error.

You have convergence output failure. The output ICs will need to be replaced and possibly a small component like a resistor or two as well. Expect to pay a service company $350-$450 to resolve this.

Blue Convergence on Toshiba 42H82 42-Inch

it should just need new STK392-110 ICs which is actually not very difficult. You will need two ICs both STK392-110 and you can get replacements at the following link and they provide instructions on how to remove and replace Convergence ICs.
Heres the link.

Question regarding toshiba 42h82 not 42h81

This is like a quiz right?? Let's see ;;;;;;; by convergence resistors I assume you mean the yoke return resistors out in front of the amps. There are 6, in the 2.2ohm 1w range, easy enough to find. The value of the convergence amps, that unit uses two stk392-110 Sanyo original Ic's rated at 6amps. You can use stk392-150's or stk392-180's just a higher amp rating. The two pico fuses in that circuit are F851 and F852 respectively.
Hope I get an "A"
