Question about Garden

Gas trimmer hesitates when I try full throttle

It wouldn't start to begin with, so I installed new spark plug (24 thousands) and rebuilt carburator kit (RB-29 for Zama - diaphrams & gaskets, needle valve (set at level with the body). Emptied gas tank and added new fuel.

Seems to only run in half choke position. When I move to run position, it stalls out.

Thanks in advance
Bill

I didn't see a screen when I took the carb. apart, and didn't clean any ports. I will take it apart again and clean the ports, and look for this screen. Thanks!

Since my original problem, I have replaced the fuel filter and the tubing in the tank and added new fuel again, but still have same problem.

Did you replace the small screen in the carb. and clean all ports with a small brush?

You need three things to make any gas engine run, in this order double check make sure you have proper timing set, spark and fuel. Could be bad gas or a bad ground from motor to frame.

Why does my Husqvarna 122c trimmer not start?

try this hold the throttle open all the way then choke it or primer if you have one then pull stat it . it should start up this is a trick that lawm mower tech use to start badly flooded trimmers are new trimmers that have not start it gets them to start right up so they can adjust the carburator so they will run this might help you to start the new trimmer you have

Craftsman 25cc weedwacker (358.791030). Zama carburator (C1U-W19) Just rebuilt carb but did not adjust low speed/high speed screws. Starts on first pull (with choke lever actuated), and after warm up,...

need to adjust the high sscrew. i do mine in 1/4 turns. start machine, full throttle, adjust the h(high) til it clears up.i would start by turning 1/4 counterclock wise, just remember to keep track, in case it runs worse, the put it back to orig. then try the other way. but i suggest 1/4 turn at a time

example... think of a clock when turning screw. straight up and down, 12oc, 1/4 turn will be 3oc, another 1/4 will be 6oc, and so on. hope it helps!

My trimmer will start but will not stay running? Fuel mix is correct, I can adjust the throttle screw to keep it running but it still stalls out after it gets running. what else can I do to repair this...

You may have a fouled carburator. Also, check the spark plug for signs of fouling (Black and oily). The plug should look grey and have a somewhat dry appearance. Try using a carburator cleaner first, and if that doesn;t do it you'll need to overhaul the carburator itself.

GAS TRIMMER WON'T START - BUT ALMOST STARTS WHEN I POUR GAS IN THE SPARK PLUG POCKET, THE GAS THERE DRIES/DISAPPEARS FAST. MUST BE A GAS LINE SITUATION? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The gas is going into the the crankcase. When the piston goes down it opens the ports and allows the gas to go down untill it could fill the crankcase. Start by blowing compressed air into the spark plug hole and allowing the piston to go to it's lowest position. This will usually remove any liquid gas from the crankcase. Next get yourself a small spray bottle and fill it with the same gas mixture your trimmer uses. Now you can spray a small amount into the spark plug port, replace the spark plug, full choke and pull till it pops. set to half choke and pull. I have also sprayed into the carb but you must open the throttle to allow the gas to enter the combustion chamber. Spray, close throttle, pull choke and pull. You may need to do this a few times for it to start. After it starts let it run at half choke for awhile until it warms a bit then open choke and go to full throttle. If this dosen't work it's possible to have other problems.

Only runs on full throttle

Are you saying full throttle, or full choke? if full throttle, you should be able to set the idle up. the idle screw will be the one when you give it gas, it will be the screw on you'r throttle linkage. If full choke, maybe the spark arrestor is plugged. You can remove it by removing the muffler. It would be between the muffler and cylinder head. You don't need this to run.I hope any thing I posted will help.

Tiller won't start.

I recently had the same issue with a tiller that hadn't been started in over 8 years. Turns out that old gas had left a varnish coating in the carburator keeping the gas from feeding. Rebuilt the carburator with new float, needle valves and bowl, new Welsh plug. Fresh gas and two pulls later it went to churning. Took a short time to adjust the two needle valves for idle and full throttle and we went a-tilling.
