You can try replacing the remote receiver inside the set. This should be a small silver box located in the front of hte set. It should have 3 leads soldered to the board. The part number is:
LSSZ0004 and costs about $5.

My tv remote stopped working over a week ago, I've fitted new batteries but the remote still doesn't work, can anyone help?

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. Surf the site in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" view. It will make surf easier.

Panasonic tv model tc-p42c2 remote is inop

It is a common thing that all the buttons of a universal remote control might not work, as it meant to be. Try an other code. If this too won't help you, there is no other way than buy a new original remote control for your Panasonic TV. You can buy in from the authorized service center for Panasonic at your town. Just give them the exact model number to your TV. They will provide you the original one.

Direct TV remote, changed batteries, does not work

Ok, simple problem and solution. You had the answer right here. If you take the original battery and put the + end of it next to the new battery + end you will see that the old one is longer for certain. inside the controler you will see the + contact is a coiled wire contact. If you take hemostats, tweezers or needle nose pliars and gently pull the center of the contact out it will spring the contact out of the housing and when you reinstall the new batteries the + end of the battery will now make contact with the wire. Took about 10 seconds to pull this out and my controller now works like a charm. Good Luck.

I cleaned all contacts with alcahol, then I found the batterys were not connected and stretched the ground spring to compensate, and the remote is working fine.
