The Hills Everyday Villa 37 has a breeze brake which is the top section of the clothesline. What this does is locks the clothesline in position to allow for ******* on windy days.

To get the clothesline to Free Wheel you need to make sure it is wound up enough to miss this breeze brake section and allow it to spin in the wind.

You will have to extend it fully, then take the housing apart to get to the anchor points for the line. Once there you can see how it mounts. Then replace the line with same length replacement line.

The Hills Rotary 7 Clothesline FD88002 is one of the new Hills rotary models and does have easy line replacement.

This Hills Rotary clothesline has a line tensioner and cap that covers the catch.

You will need a small screw driver to pop off the caps.

Next step is to remove the line from the tensioner

You would then thread the new line through and re-tension the line as per the instructions in the manual or video below.

To restring the Hills Everyday 37 rotary clothesline FD88010 you are going to need a couple of tools which include a small screw driver and a set of cutters to cut the new line cord.

You will also need to order a pack of line, which for this unit would need to be the 70m pack from Hills. Here is a link to the line pack you would need.

if you throwing it out just get a disc grinder and cut it off at ground l level if ya want to reuse spray freeing oil into socket leave a coupla hours and use a stilsen to turn clothes line should free it for removal
