Hum is a constant low-frequency buzz, usually at about 60 Hz or 120 Hz, which results from voltage differences between true "ground" (what you'd get shoving a copper pipe into the ground) and the electrical "ground" of your receiver's chassis When this voltage differential exists, it's called a "ground loop," and the hum it produces is darned annoying. You'll hear the hum mainly from the subwoofer because it's a low-frequency noise, you will need a ground loop insulator they are about $20 at any electronic store

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

I have a 1999 silverado z71 4wd, everything was working fine, until i was fooling around and i was in drive rolling to a stop, then shifed into reverse to backup and hit the gas to hard- but it just rev'd...

If you check again, you are likely missing 2nd and 4th gears, as well as reverse. This is because you have either stripped the spline out of the reaction shell or broke the spline off of it. This failure is very common, and when you put it in reverse as you did, you just helped it fail sooner.

Amp makes noise when volume is off

Subwoofers are more susceptible to magnetic and radio frequency interference than your average speaker, or more commonly called RFI.

If you have a RadioShack or other electronics store nearby, purchase a ground loop isolator. This will ground any of the stray electrical pulses around your subwoofer. It is very easy to install and plugs directly into the RCA jack of the subwoofer and should eliminate the problem.

If this does not solve your problem, I suggest bringing your unit in for service if the noise is bothersome.

JBL PB10 subwoofer, it makes a loud burp noise when it comes on.

In the industry - It is called "Turn-On Thump".

There are some manufacturers that eliminate components like noise filters on enry level lines to save money.

There is no way to lessen this noise without ripping the amplifier apart and having a technical knowledge of the way amplifiers work. It would involve hard-wiring a slow charge capacitor in the turn on line so it gradually builds power instead of getting it all at once.
