Our Viking professional vcbb363rss freezer is icing up because auto defrost seems to have quit, including the freezer fan. Everyone seems to agree that it's a control board. Do where are they located?

More probable is the the defrost sensor. It is located in the evaporator section in the freezer section of the refrigerator. It will be clamped on the refrigerant return line to the compressor. The sensor closes on temperature decrease below 5 degrees and opens during the normal defrost cycle at least 2 times a day. If the sensor does not close the refrigerator stops defrosting and ice will accumulate as yours seems to be doing. Take your model number to searspartsdirect.com and find the evaporator or controls section and find your sensor. You may need to make a splice to install your new sensor to the electrical wire. some just have push on pull off connections and other have to be spliced. You may have to use a hot air gun like a hair dryer to defrost the evaporator panel to come loose to remove panel. the panels typically have several screws holding them in place and are generally easy to removel. The side normally have gaskets that need to be removed carefully with damage to be reinstalled after sensor replacement.
Hope this helps.

My 3 year old Viking refrigerator starting making really loud noises today...what can I do avoid a repair bill???

If the loud noises sound like a fan blade hitting ice you have a defrosting problem.

You can try unpluging the unit removing the contents then doing a manual defrost with a fan blowing into the unit for a bit over 2 hours then restarting the unit to see if the noise has ceased.

If it is a noise associated with the compressor you can try pushing it gently in it's floating mounts to try and reposition the unit so the vibration absorbers are functioning properly again.

Lastly if it is the condensor fan making noises break out the crevice tool and remove the lint from the coils. If you have pets this is very important.

Sadly if the problem repeats in less than a week after doing the above the dreaded serviceman / repair visit will be required to islolate the cause or source.

Noise at the top, constant

Are you saying you get the noise even when the refrigerator is not cooling? If you get the noise only when the refrigerator "runs", it is the fan as you suggest.

Viking VCBB363RSS Fridge Orange High Temp light on

I am not sure if I have the same model, but the VIKING fridge that I purchased in Chicago is a stainless steel bottom freezer design that is horrible. I paid alot for it and it looks great on the outside - like a pretty girl that has nothing to say.....The alarm goes off constantly and tonight the freezer wasn't working! This thing is not even 5 years old and my GE fridge in the basement that I use to store drinks for the pool and things that I don't want to spoil is probably 40 years old (I got it from my parents and has NEVER been a problem). What is up VIKING? Where are your engineers??

Fan keeps running

freezer fan runs when freezer calls for cooling
ref fan runs when fridge calls for cooling
condenser fan up top runs with compressor
lower unit condensate fan runs with compressor
fans should not be noisy
control monitors temp and will give alarm if temp rise
please contact viking as your fridge may have a safety recall on door hinges
