This sounds like a classic defrost problem. Inside the fresh food compartment you will find an Control Board. The the number one thing other than you unpluging the refrigerator is look behind the freezer back panel to see if the evaporator coils are frozen up. If so defrost with a hair dryer and let me know if the Control board has burn marks on either side. Click on link below and place your model ED5FHEXST00 into the model and parts feature. It takes you to pictures of your refrigerator. On the left of your screen click on photo #11 That will show you the area of the control board. In picture listed as #6 The part number for board is W10135900
Let me know what you find before you make any choices. There could be something different that we need to look for, Thanks, Sea Breeze appliancepartsse@yahoo.com

How long should it take to make ice in a brand new whirlpool refrigerator?

It will depend upon how warm it is, how warm the water to the icemaker is, and how much food is in the freezer. Regardless, I would say within 24 hours you should have ice.

Is the food frozen solid in the freezer? Does the ice maker get any water to it? Do you see any ice buildup in the freezer?

Why does my ice cube maker quit working and temperature in freezer is the same as fridge.

ice maker will not work if freezer is too warm . it must be 15 deg or lower and if fresh food is that cold then the food is frozen. the freezer needs to be 0 to 5 deg and the fresh food side 38 def is best . / you may be having a defrost problem and the cold coil is packed with ice and prevent ing air flow .. ck for ice in back of freezer .. mm

I have a refrigerator that is 10 years old it is a tpx24pbe bb model number and the refrigerator side is staying at 50 degrees what is the problem?

On my GE side by side (model GSS20IEMDWW), a warm fresh food side, as well as iced-over evaporator coils in the freezer, was caused by the temp sensor in the fresh food side sending faulty data to the computer.

The temp in the fresh food side would climb because air could no longer pass over the iced-up coils in the freezer side.

For me, the faulty fresh food side sensor made the computer always thing the fresh food side was too warm, making it constantly run the compressor (thus icing up the coils).

If you do not have a coil icing problem in the freezer, then your fresh food side temp sensor may be telling the computer that the fresh food side is already cold enough.

GE Side By Side not cooling on refridgerator side.

Look on the back panel inside the freezer for ice beginning to show. Most times when this happens the fresh food section is the first to notice. Your refrigerator has a control board on the back. If not defrosting the air flow to the fresh food section is greatly reduced. Let me know, Sea Breeze

Whirlpool Refrigerator fresh food section cool but not cold (freezer ok).

The most likely problem is in the defrost system. Behind the freezer panel there is not only an evaporator fan, but also the evaporator itself, and a defrost heater, termination bi-metal, and drain pan (or trough). You will likely find ice build-up in the evap coil. This could be caused by the defrost timer, the heater, or the termination bi-metal.
Have a service tech look at the unit.

I think you are short of refrigerant, needs to be topped up and checked for leaks.
