SOURCE: I have an Insta Flame Canadian Fireplace

sounds as though you need to get the thermocouple(copper wire that sits in the pilot flame) replaced, check first to make sure it is tight at the gas valve end, as they can loosen over time due to expansion and contraction.

Insta Flame dvr33. Why won't the pilot stay lit?

The pilot flame may have to be adjusted. It is possible but not probable that the gas supply pressure is exceptionally low.

How do I fix the pilot on a CFM Insta-Flame DV34 RN?

Typically, the thermo-couple reaches a certain temperature which sends a signal to the valve body telling it to allow the pilot to stay lit. The easy answer is to replace the thermo-couple. Or, you could just replace the entire pilot assembly to ensure all the parts are new.

I want a manual for a insta flame Model ZC 36 RN

I have scanned and uploaded the operating and instructions manual for the ZC 36 series fireplaces. This includes the ZC36-RN model you are asking for (which is the natural gas version with a remote on/off switch), as well as the ZC36-MN, ZC36-MP and ZC36-RP variants.

Reliant 501 Natural Gas won't stay lit

Reliance water heater?
Thermocouple is good if the pilot stays lit continuously.

501 is older model. Unknown if this unit has FVIR protection and sealed combustion chamber or open air intake on front of unit.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Reliance-2006-Service-Handbook.pdf

With FVIR protection:
Get more fresh air to the unit.
Clean the flame arrestor screen.
Test and replace the thermocouple:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-test-water-heater-thermocouple.html
Inspect and clean burner and combustion parts
Test gas pressure, bleed air out of gas line.
Replace gas control valve.
Test draft air by lighting match and see if smoke is pulled into the vent pipe at draft hood on top of tank.

The pilot won't stay lit on gas hot water tank.

Make sure thermocouple tip is seated inside the burner flame.
Make sure thermocouple is not overtightened. Finger-tight + 1/4 turn.
If the pilot lights, then ECO energy cut off is not tripped, but gas control valve might be bad.
Check color of pilot flame: it should be strong and clear blue.
If pilot flame is weak, or color of flame is yellow-orange: Clean pilot orifice and burner and combustion parts on yearly basis.
Clean air intake screen if applicable.
Increase air supply to water heater. Open a window and see what happens.
Check for adequate draft going up chimney using match under vent hood to see if smoke drafts immediately upwards.
Bleed air out of gas line.
Check gas pressure.

Rheem 22V50F1 pilot won't stay lit. Changed thermo couple & it lit, ran then went out. Let it sit overnight & it lit, ran then went out. What next? p.s. The unit is 5 years old. Thanks

If pilot lights and flame is robust and clear blue, and pilot goes out later, then some suspects can be excluded: air in gas line, low gas pressure, thermocouple is overtightened (finger-tight + 1/4 turn), thermocouple not positioned correctly in the flame, dirty pilot tube.
If flame is yellowish and small: then clean pilot tube and combustion parts.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-gas-water-heater.html#clean
Remaining suspects can include: air in gas line, low gas pressure, bad gas control valve, tight house so household vent fans pull air down water heater vent that blows out pilot, hot attic with inadequate ventilation, water dripping down vent.

Jandy LG250N pilot won't stay on after releasing switch on gas valve. Main switch on unit is off. I am able to keep pilot flame on for one minute by depressing switch but pilot always goes out after...

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

No, the pilot generator or the pilot head itself is the issue. You need a good, solid blue flame across the generator to get enough power to hold the switch open when you let go of the knob. If the pilot flame is week or not aimed across the generator it will not stay lit.

If it is but the generator is old and weak, it will go out as well. If you can see the pilot flame and it is a nice blue color, replace the generator. If it is not, disassemble the pilot and either clean it out or replace it.

My pilot light has gone out on my gas furnace, I lit it again, but its not staying lit. Seems like the switch makes it go out.

Probably not the switch, MUCH more common is the sensing tube. This is the copper tube that goes into the gas control valve, and the other end is TOUCHED by the pilot light flame.

(The flame heats this tube and then this allows the pilot to remain on. The thinking is if the pilot were to go out, it is important to stop the flow of gas....)

These sensing tubes are readily available, but different across brands, so be sure to get the correct one for your unit. Easy swap out, do not kink the tubing and put the sensing end in the same position as the old one, relative to the pilot flame....

The start proceedure requires that you override the tube, light the pilot light, and continue to hold the override for xxx amount of seconds. How long differs, I observe the flame and then slowly let off the override, ready to re press if the flame were to lessen or go out.....

Pilot light will not stay lit as soon as you let off the gas valVE arm it will go out. vulcan model TK 65

1. Check to make sure you have continuity across the high limit terminals.( you can use a jumper wire for testing) Unit operates on about 1/2 of 1 volt so no worry of a shock. 2. Check to make sure your pilot generator is producing over 500 millivolts. Make sure the pilot orifice is clean and that you have a nice sharp pilot flame heating the pilot generator.
