You can get the conversion kit. It will tell you how to convert the dryer. I recommend that you get a technician to do it though.

This gas dryer is equipped with a Valve & Burner Assembly

SOURCE: Roper Dryer model # RED4405Q shutting off

The motor may be getting hot due to bad rolers idler or glide. You need to take the machine apart and oil it. While you have it broken down you may want to turn the motor and see if it is stiff. The motor can be oiled but it is tricky. there are no oil ports you must make some. I use zoomspout oiler from ace hardware. Its high temp resistant formula and viscosity is perfect for dryers and HVAC needs.

Our dryer is a GE profile gas dryer. After a couple of loads drying it will stop after about 20 minutes and we will have to restart. What is the problem?

Possible that there is lint buildup on the motor and it is shutting down on overheat. Remove front of
dryer and vacuum out lint or blow it out,BUT PLEASE disconnect unit from wall outlet or trip breaker unless you want a very tight hairdo.

Dryer keeps shutting off

could be many reasons....if the filters are clogged or not clean the unit will overheat and shut down....check all those first before calling for a new timer/switch panel.

Our GE Profile dryer keeps shutting off, regardless of setting, after it has run for 4 or 5 min. Could it be overheating or maybe the vent to the outside is clogged?

it certainly sounds to me like a blocked vent issue somewhere along the line and in order to prevent a fire the safety thermostat shuts the heater off. are you saying the dryer stops altogether, not just the heat?

Lint basket keeps falling out during drying.

Bent the spring tabs to tighten the hold of the basket to back of the drum . If that doesn't work you will have to buy a new one. I found that a lot are damaged by heat.

Fixing a gas dryer belt

That I believe is an older model GE with the idler bar instead of the short bar. I believe there is also a rear panel that you can remove to gain access to it. I dont remember for sure if it keeps tension up or down. Loop your belt around the motor pully, then find out which way it keeps tension on the belt, then loop the belt around the idler pully and release so that it keep tension on the belt itself. Let me know if you need further information.
