Question about Sony CDX-GT500 CD Player
Sony cdx gt 500, rear factory speakers quit worgking. replaced with alpine, now rear speakers work but low volume compared to the front factory speakers.
Factory speakers usually have low resistance ( 2 ohm) When replacing speakers with aftermarket, most aftermarket speakers will be 4 ohm. If you want the same sound you may have to buy some resistors to put on the speakers (across the + and -). By putting a 4 ohm resistor across the connectors will now make the speaker 2 ohms which in effect will raise the volume. Depending in what vehicle you replaced the speakers the resistance will vary.

You may want to check your rear speaker wires are any of the : + and - crossed. This could cause the same result.

No sound or only a very low-level sound is heard from the rear speakers.
>>> Make sure the sound field function is on (press SOUND FIELD - MODE).
>>> Select a sound field containing the word "cinema" or "virtual" (see pages 28-30).
>>> Adjust the speaker volume (see page 19).
>>> Make sure the rear speaker size parameter is set to either SMALL or LARGE (see page 17).
