Led Grow Light has rows that arent working

One of my lights has two rows of lights that aren't lighting up. the light panel is only 10 months old. how do I determine which component is the problem?

I put Dell 25UXR A12870-408 in my browser search bar, in the hopes of seeing the motherboard, and the Front Panel header.

The above was the best search hit I got.

Ebay is a little whacked with their search engine, sometimes; but the above made me wonder.

Why would you list the Asus TUV4X ,along with the Dell motherboard I am looking for?
Probably just their search engine trying to advertise anything close.

Motherboards do not seem to be the same, except they all use a Socket 370 processor socket.

So out of curiosity, I would like you to look at the Front Panel header, on an Asus TUV4X,

Set your mouse cursor in the middle of the photo, to use the
Zoom In feature.
Now move all the way to the right, to the right of the bottom white PCI slot.

Immediately above that bottom PCI slot, is a row of pins.
You can almost make out FRT_PANEL.
(Of course I'm using a 26 inch HDTV for my main monitor, and that helps, lol!)

What my question is, are the pins in a row/s like that on yours?

Yes, even with this large monitor, THAT photo does me no good.
(RCA L26HD31. I'm using dual monitors. Also using HP 2009M)

If the Front Panel header pins are arranged like that, I believe we can use the old process of elimination.

Looks like an 18 or 20-pin header.
Some of those pins are used for a speaker. (Guessing)
Some of those pins are Not used. (Not guessing)

The procedure is to have the Power Supply plugged in, then use an LED light to test with.

Old Power On LED, or Harddrive activity LED, whatever.
Just needs to be a TWO wire LED.

Let's number the pins.
Let's say they are numbered ODD for the Top row, and EVEN for the Bottom row.
I don't know where Pin 1 is. Should be a 1 silkscreened on the motherboard, next to Pin 1.

For this example let's say it is on the Top row, and all the way to the LEFT.
That would make the Top row pinout, from LEFT to RIGHT;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19.

Bottom row, from Left to Right;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20.

My thinking is to touch the two wires from the LED, to Pins 1 and 3.
Power Supply doesn't come on?
Go to Pins 5 and 7.

Go along the Top row, then go along the Bottom row; in this fashion.
When you get to the 2 pins for the Power On switch, there will be a tiny spark, and the Power Supply will come on.

Using an LED light you cannot cause any harm to the motherboard.
HOWEVER, the Power On switch is a Momentary Contact Switch.

Do NOT keep the LED wires on the Power On switch pins, more than 2 seconds.

Power Supply on, and running.

Now, touch two pins, and the LED blinks?
HarDDrive activity LED light.

LED stays on?
Power On LED light.

Computer restarts?
Restart switch pins.

Usually it will be the first 8 pins that will be used.
4 on the Top row, 4 on the Bottom row.

This is a Zip file. A Zip file is a Compressed file. Used to send large amount of information more easily.
Has to be decompressed, or 'unzipped'.

After you click on the blue -> FIC K8M-800M file name, a small window will come up-
Opening K8M-800M_manual.zip

Make SURE there is a Green dot in the small circle, to the left of Save File.
IF not; click in the empty circle to the left of Save File.
No go below in the small window, and click on OK.

A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to fully download all the way, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

In the next small window go to the far Left, and click on -
Extract all files.

For an example;
The front of your computer is the Front Panel.

The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the Main wires from the Front Panel go to; is the Front Panel header.

Two rows of contact pins.
5 pins across the Top row.
4 pins across the Bottom row.

Green color usually for the Turbo Mode, Yellow color of the LED for the Normal Mode.

Pins 1, 2, and 3. (3 at the Top)

A) Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire. [Signal]
B) Pins 2 and 3 are for the Ground wires.

Front panel connections


I don't find the Front Panel header pinout online, nor do I have an MSI MS-5191 in the shop.

I would suggest using one the LED lights with two wires.
(3-wire is a dual color LED)

There are two rows of pins. Usually the Power On switch, Power On LED, and Speaker; are on the same row.
HarDDrive activity LED, and Reset Switch are on the opposite row.

Speaker has 4-pins designated for it. All the others use 2-pins.
(Unless the PWR ON LED is a dual color jobbie)

Touch two pins next to each other, in the same row; with the 2-wire LED.
Start with finding the Power On switch first.

Usually the top row 1st two pins are Power On LED (Light)
Next in line are the 2 pins for the Power On switch.
Bottom row 1st two pins are usually HarDDrive activity LED (light)
Next 2-pins are usually Reset switch.

May not apply to a motherboard old enough to use a Socket 7 processor socket.
There may be 18 to 20-pins.
Bear in mind that many are not used, and probably 4 are for an internal speaker, for hearing BIOS Beep Codes.
May be two separate Front Panel headers.

Once you find the two contact pins in the Front Panel header, for the Power On switch; I would put the Power On switch wires on.
The small pin connector on the wire/s, will keep you from accidentally touching these two pins again, when the computer is on.

Now you have the two pins for the Power On switch, and the computer is running; then keep touching 2-pins at a time with the LED. (Light Emitting Diode)

LED stays on? You have the Power On LED (Light) pins.
LED blinks? HarDDrive activity LED (light) pins.
Computer restarts? Reset switch pins.

Look for abbreviations near the pins in the Front panel header.

PWR, Pwr, Pwr On, Sw, and SW; are just some of the abbreviations for the Power On switch.

HDD LED, and HDD are two for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light)
(If it states HDD SW it is the Power On switch. Weird old way of marking)

RST, Reset, and RSW, are for the Reset Switch.
(Reset Button)

If you see 4 pins marked with a bracket ( [ -> Turn so it's horizontal), these are for the internal speaker.

Type MSI front panel connector in your search bar, and look at -> images. See if you can find an image of your MSI Front Panel header pinout.

You can bet MSI carried out that Front Panel header pinout, on other MSI motherboards, besides the MS-5191.

The MSI MS-5191 may have been a motherboard made by MSI, especially for a pre-built computer manufacturer, and not listed on their website as an OEM motherboard.
(Original Equipment Manufacturer)

Won't have the Front Panel header pinout, listed on MSI's support website. (Doesn't)
But you can bet there IS an OEM motherboard made by MSI, that the Front Panel header DOES match.

May be different expansion slots, or motherboard chipset, or whatever; but the same Front Panel header pinout.

Do not have the Front Panel header pinout.

Do have;

Take an LED (Light), with two wires, and check the pins with it.
There is a Top row of pins, and a Bottom row.

Touch the first two pins in the Top row, left side. Does it light up?
No? Go to the next two pins. No? Go to the next two pins.

Keep going until the Power Supply comes on. (It is a BRIEF touch. The Power On switch is a Momentary Contact Switch )
Now you have the Power On switch pins.

LED light blinks? You have the Harddrive activity LED. (Light)
LED light stays on? You have the Power On LED. (Light)
Computer restarts? The Restart switch pins.

Short something out? NOPE. You can't hurt a thing using this method.

4 of those pins are for an internal speaker. (To hear BIOS Beep Codes with)

That's 12 of those 18 pins. (Probably less. It is two rows of 9 pins, that are stated for the Front Panel header)
4 of those pins probably won't be used.
You won't be using IR. (Infra Remote) (Only uses 2 pins, though)

Most of the time with an 18-pin Front Panel header;

Top Row:
Starting at Left side, going towards Right;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18.
May be a pin missing in this row, or two.

Borrom row:
Starting at Left side, going towards Right;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19.
Same thing here. May be 1 or 2 pins missing.

Pins 2 and 4 are usually for the Power On LED. (Light Emitting Diode)
Pins 6 and 8 - Power On switch.
Pins 10, 12, 14, and 16 may be for the Internal speaker.
Pins 18, and 20 are usually not used.

Pin 1 and 3 for the HarDDrive activity LED.
Pins 5 and 7 for the Reset switch.

Pin 9 is usually reserved for the factory, and is a 5 Volt test point.
Pins 11, 13, 15, 17 for speaker; or not used. Same with pin 19.

(So speaker pins may be top row, or bottom row. Dunno )

Another thing. This motherboard is old enough to be using a 3 wire LED, or dual color; for the Power On LED.
LED usually had the colors Green and Yellow.
Yellow for 'Normal' mode, Green for 'Turbo' mode.

(Which is a bunch of cr@p.
Green LED, or Turbo Mode; was actually NORMAL.
Normal mode was the computer operating BELOW the Normal mode)

So pins 2, 4, and 6, may be for a 3 wire Power On LED.

Front panel configuration


Motherboard installed in computer case;
Processor to the Top, 3 Ram Memory slots to the Right, 5 white PCI slots to the Bottom;

Down in the Bottom/Right corner, is JFP1, and JFP2.

The Front Panel header is JFP1. (Junction Front Panel 1)
The header with two rows of pins, and is positioned Horizontal. It is parallel to the bottom of the motherboard.

(The other Front Panel header is JFP2. It is positioned Vertical, and is above JFP1. You may be using it also. Read on)

There are two rows of pins for JFP1.
5 across the Top, 4 across the Bottom.

The pins on the Top row are numbered ODD.
The pins on the Bottom row are numbered EVEN.

Top row, starting from the Right side, going towards the Left;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Bottom row, starting from the Right side, going towards the Left;
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is NO pin 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the Harddrive activity LED light is dim, when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

Specifically we are talking about the Reset switch, Power On switch, HarDDrive activity LED light, and Power On LED light.
Speaker pins for an onboard speaker< (BIOS Beep Codes), may be also included in this header.

What you need is a Front Panel header pinout.

I'm looking at the motherboard now,

The silkscreen print next to the Front panel header, is fuzzy. Probably is on your motherboard also.

Looking at the motherboard installed in the computer case, the Front Panel header is two rows of pins.

The pins have a white rectangle silkscreened around them. To the left of these two rows of 10 pins, is another small rectangle in white.
These are for IrDA,
(6 pins. Two rows of 3 pins)

Suggest leave them alone.

There are 20 pins. Two rows of 10 pins for the Front panel header.
Willing to bet Pin 1 is the pin to the upper Left corner.
Pin 20 is the pin at the bottom Right corner.

Coming from the Left side, across the Top row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19.

Coming from the Left side, across the Bottom row;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20.

It looks as though this is just the old Front Panel header setup, used for a lot of old motherboards.

For example, I can just about make out the pins for the HDD activity LED light.
Bottom row, come from the Left side.

The first three pins, which are pins 2, 4, and 6, are for the Keylock.
DO not connect any wires to them!
The next two pins, 8 and 10 are for the HarDDRive activity LED.

Top row; Pins 5 and 7 look like they are for the Power On LED.

HOWEVER, let's use deductive reasoning based on intelligent thought.
Or in otherwords, 'Wing it'.

All you have to do, is get one of those LED lights that have two wires.
This will be your test unit.

Go across the Top row. Touch TWO pins at a time. For example Pins 1 and 3. No power? Touch pins 5 and 7. No power?
(Shouldn't be)

Touch pins 9 and 11, and so on. Keep going across the Top row.
No good? Go across the bottom row, BUT SKIP pins 2 and 4.

What will happen? When you finally touch, the two pins for the Power On switch, the LED light will light up, and the Power Supply will turn on.

With the Power Supply on you can go back, and see which two pins keep the test LED light ON. These pins will be for the Power On LED.

Test LED light blinks? You are touching the pins for the HarDDrive activity LED.

Windows is running, and you touch two pins, and Windows restarts?
You have the pins for the Reset switch.

Speaker pins will be FOUR pins in a row, and by finding the rest of the pins, you will know which ones these are.

BY using the LED light you will harm NOTHING. In fact you could use a jumper wire. If you touch the wrong pins, NOTHING will happen. If you touch the two pins for the Power On switch, the Power Supply will come on.

Shock Hazard:
The VOLTAGE is 5 Volt DC.
In comparison two D cell flashlight batteries store 3 Volts DC.

In otherwords; NONE.

What is the best grow lights to grow *********


That depends on what you're trying to grow and what phase the plant is in. Certain plants are adapted to grow in the shade or in warm, sunny environments. Depending on the plant, one type of light may work better than another. For example, if your plant needs a shadier environment, then a regular incandescent bulb may work best.

The other factor that goes into choosing the right grow light is what phase your plant is at. For example, a high-pressure sodium bulb may be best when your plant is in the flowering or fruiting stage.

Personally, I love using LED grow lights. Modern LED bulbs are more energy-efficient (they produce more light with less power), so they cost less in the long run. They also produce less heat, which means you don't have to worry about a ventilation system. Plus, they emit light wavelengths that correspond to the peak absorption peaks for most plants.

When choosing your bulb, you should look at the requirements of the plant and how those requirements change as the plant continues to grow. Keep in mind that the larger your plant gets, the more light it will need, so plan ahead.

If my information is correct;

Orient the motherboard so that we are both looking at it in the same direction,
Processor to the top, Ram Memory slots to the right, white PCI slots to the bottom.

The front plastic panel of your computer that has the Power On button, Harddrive activity LED light, and Power On LED light, is the Front Panel.

The area of pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

The Front Panel header is all the way down on the right corner. Panel 1.

The Front Panel header, or Panel 1, is a rectangular block that is positioned lengthwise, across the bottom of the motherboard.

There are 4 pins across the Top, and 5 pins across the Bottom.

The pins are numbered.
They are numbered Even across the Top row.
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. (There is NO Pin 10. Just a blank spot)

They are numbered Odd across the Bottom row.
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Pin 5 is for the Negative wire

C) Pin 9 is RVSD_DNU
Reserved Do Not Use.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light.
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.

If the LED light is dim turn the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.
