I unplugged the usb connector and took out the batteries for both the keyboard and mouse for 30 seconds. Then I plugged everything back in.

Did you install the software first? Try plugging it in to another USB port.

I'm not sure if this will work for you but go to this site: http://us.kensington.com/html/1466.html#mw611 There is a download of "Kensington MouseWorks™ Software Version 6.11" which might be what you need to make your mouse work. If this does not work, I'll see what else I can find for you. According to the site, it does work with Windows Me. Just out of curiosity, why are you still using WinMe?

after replacing the battery have you syncronize with the reciver sensor dongle .just press the conncet button on mouse it will work.
