Question about Dryers
There was a plastic ring that came off my dryer drum but have been issues with clothes that have strings attached and getting stuck on the dryer drum. I had a repairman come in today and he said even if he replaced the plastic ring, the gap is too big and would need to replace the drum. Is that correct? The cost of the drum and labour alone I figure I should just buy a new dryer but my dryer is only about 5 years old. I had issue with dryer when it was new as well and in the first six months I placed a service call and they put felt around the dryer drum.

The repairman is trying to upsell you to a replacement drum. The felt sealer can be an expensive item to replace. Go to www.repairclinic.com and enter the model of your dryer. With luck, you will be presented with a list of common replacement parts that will give you some idea of cost.

SOURCE: dryer not hot
Tht means that the element is not heating on.
You need to call a technician to test the element, the thermic sensor, and the control assembly.
The most likely is a defective heating element, that must be replaced.

yeah, i think there called "drum glides" www.partselect.com type in your model number and you if they have that dryer in the system, then breakdown of the dryer will show, multiple diagrams. And look for the glides that are supposed to go there...hopefully this helps

I think that the real problem you are having is because of wear in the guide wheels that hold the drum. The easiest way to see where the guide wheels are and to get replacements is to do a search for "appliance parts" you will get a number of different parts sites come up.
Enter your model number and the sites will have exploded views of your dryer. You can see from these where the guides are and also get replacements.
Check a number of sites as the prices can vary greatly from site to site and there is no one site that seems to be always the best price.
I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!
Thanks for using Fixya!!

this is a common problem with dryers in most cases the glide runner (felt ribbon) wears out and needs replacing but if the belt is ok then it simply needs gluing back on as there is large amounts of heat you will need to use an apoxy application glue. simply re adhease it to the barrel
best of luck
