No spark i have a 4 yr old lawn boy silver series 6.5 2 stroke engine self propelled. it started up ran for 5 seconds and stoped running. it has no spark

It seems to be an obstruction in your fuel delivery system. Get a can of ether and a spray a short burst of it into the breather area near the carburetor, if the mower starts up and then stalls out, then you may need to get your carburetor serviced.

clean your carb and change needle and seat also

Not familiar with tecumseh lawn boy. Lawn boys I worked on were 2 stroke, if this is the case the crank seal is sucking air after engine warms up. New seal would fix. If you can't do it you're self may not be economically worth it.

Maybe the engine is running with the fuel from the primer bulb (about few seconds), the carburator is not working and need to be removed checked and cleaned, the most common fail is a jet clogged.

your engine is only running on the fuel you are pumping in, the carb. is not lifting the fuel on its own, maybe because of water in the bowl or dirty jets. You must take the bowl of and clean it out and depending on the type of carb. it might need a new diaphragm. Stephen.

About the only suspect is water in the fuel - even after you drained it. If your Masport has a 'Quantum' style engine with a float type carb, undo the bowl nut and allow the float chamber to drain. Odds on there's water in it. A single drop will block the jet. If it's a 'carb-on-the-tank' engine, chech for water droplets in the bottom of the tank. They wll be obvious if present.

Your primer is sucking air and must be replaced

Try taking of the engine shroud and cleaning the magnets on the fly wheel. Also clean the two little prongs that are really close to the fly wheel. Use fine sand paper or emery cloth. Then check the spark plug wire for rust (clean if any). Try replacing the spark plug if it is old.

Sounds like the air filter media is full of muck.

You need to clean it.

Everything should then be fine....

check for a faulty wire to the engine kill switch it may be contacting the ground
