Question about Panasonic PT-56LCZ70 56" HDTV

Open Question

I can't get the PC input resolution change screen to come up.

MY Panasonic PT-56LCZ70 is supposed to be adjustable to a 1366x768 resolution for PC input. To get this resolution you're supposed to select PC input, then scroll to an entry allowing adjustment to WXGA (60 Hz). When I select the PC input with the remote the TV does, indeed, go to PC input, and the TV displays 1280x1024 (the scanning is wrong, I don't see all the picture, and it's stretched). The owners manual suggests that when I first get to the PC input screen, I should also be able to get to an option allowing the switch to WXGA. I can't get to the option screen allowing the switch, or any of PC input options I see shown in a screen grab pic in the owner's manual. All I get is the screen my PC is putting out, and a brief PC input notice displayed at the top of the screen that confirms it's been selected. I've tried pushing other buttons, thinking Panasonic might have an undocumented change, but no luck. How do I get to the screen allowing the change to 1366x768?

SOURCE: Picture is too tall

After looking at the service manual, there is an adjustment for the vertical size, but it is in the service mans menu, and this is a dangerous place to be if you do not know what you are doing. I do have the two part service manual, and if you want to attempt this, you certainly can, but I highly advise against it, as I have seen peeps mess up a TV set royally this way. It should not cost too much to repair, unless the problem is not simply an adjustment and is a part going bad. Good Luck

If you have a problem with the convergence, believe me, going into the service menu and trying to correct it will only give you large headaches, DO NOT USE THR SERVICE MENU UNLESS YOU ARE A TRAINED TECH!!!! Doing so can result in a complete and total failure of this TV set. I service menu is not for any major changes in any adjustment. It is not the cure all. If your convergence all of a suddenly shifted, it is not a service menu issue. Your problem is the convergence amp IC's. Good Luck

How can I fix my television?

One thing to look for is overheating. Is the TV shrouded and hot to the touch? This is the symptom for overheating but it could be other problems too, such as a broken intermittent connection and also a bad or failing electronic part in the video channel. In any case, quite likely not user fixable.

But 1st check the obvious. Did you make any changes to inputs, hookups or position of TV? Are any inputs lose or bent (TV set top box, DVD, etc). IE, make sure it is the TV and not an input. Try an external input (from DVD etc) and see if that works the same.

If the TV works with an external DVD on any other input (HDMI, RGB, VGA etc) you may ba able to just swap around inputs to bypass the bad input channel.

I hook up my pc to lg lcd it always says invalid format any solution

What cable connection are you using? What resolution was the computer sending to the video graphics adapter before you connected the two?

The TV can only support
VGA Resolution: 720x400, 1360x768, 640x350, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768 or 1366x768
HDMI to DVI: 640x350, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768 or 1366x768

For best results you should use 1360x768.

Try resetting this when the Input is set to that for the computer. Press Menu and select Picture. Press Enter and select Screen (RGB-PC) (use the Up/Down arrows). Press Enter and select Resolution. Then press Enter and select the desired resolution. Then press Enter again.

If you like there is a Auot-config option in the Screen menu, that may set the TV properly.

If the above doesn't help, use another monitor and check the output resolution and then reconnect to the TV.

I hope this helps.

Panasonic PT-56LCZ70 T.V. works fine but the picture is red. Any ideas why?

If you mean the picture has a red cast to it you can go into your setup mode and change teh color temp setting to normal or cool. It sounds like it is set in the warm mode which adds more red to your picture.

PC input

output resolution is different from supported input resolution you need to check in the manual which resolutions are supported. the 1366x768 is the screen output or what it scales the supported resolutions to for the screen output. as eg: 480i low resolution gets scaled (to the best of it's ability) to the output resolution 1366x768. altho the scaling isn't smooth it displays all pixels. the more information the set recieves the better the scaling.
