Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

Cannot read disk error

Bought my 360 at the start of July this year, but it has already ruined 3 of my games. Firstly, it scratched my pgr3 copy and then came up with "There is a problem with the disk you are using. It may be dirty or damaged" at the start screen, this after 2 days of it playing fine, so i thought it must of been something wrong with the game.

I then borrowed my mates pgr 3 and the same thing happened, it scratched the disk, and the error message came up after about a minute into the game.

When my friend tried the game on his console, it worked fine.

I recently bought Halo 3 Limited Collectors Edition, which was fine until again, it became scratched, and the error message came up again.

Tried the game in my mates console, and he confirmed it doesn't work with error message coming up on his as well.

Have tried cleaning discs, but to no avail.

Please help if you can, any advice is appreciated. Saved my money up especially to buy this, so don't want to have to buy a new one.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, have had my console vertical, but changed it to laying down before I got Halo 3. Although the game was slightly scratched because of the disc holder was dodgy, like a lot of others.

Will get a replacement Halo 3 game, and try again, Thanks.

Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first clean out the disc, you are using. If that don't solve the problem you can also take the help of DIY guide available at Internet. I think you have got good no. of options to get your Xbox repaired, Choice is yours.

Heres what you need to do:
1.Call 1800-4myxbox see if your still under warranty.
2.If you like, I do not think its nessary, get them to replace your current 360.

What 95% of the time causes the 360 to damage teh disk is when your system is *VERTICAL* (up and down) or if you move the console while your playing it, or if the console got knocked over while a game is playing.

From now on put the console horizontal, this will prevent the scratching of games.

Thats what it was. Moving the console while it's playing, or on.

Ruins disk with big marks on them

Check with Walmart. They should have a record of your extended warranty.

Also check the forums on xbox live regarding your specific disk scratching issue. This normally happens if/when the console is moved while the games/movies are being played.

My xbox 360 wont read halo 3 but reads my other games?

Your disk may be damaged. If it has scratches on it that can cause major problems. But the worst problems are caused by fingerprints. Fingerprints prevent the laser from reading the data on the disk. If your disk has fingerprints, run it under the water faucett and, using a soft cloth (the kind you would clean eyeglasses with), wipe from the center to the outside of the disk, not in a circle. If the problem persists, the Halo 3 data on your hard drive may be corrupted. Delete the data and try starting the game then.

Sounds like your cd drive is not reading the discs properly. If that's not the problem, then you have a scratched disc on your hands.

Do what I did. Go to sellitbroken.com and sell your scratched/non-working game to them. They will give you good money for it.

It wont read 360 games but it reads original Xbox games

cd drive error, if its an older xbox thats what it would be, either that or disk read error thing, i would suggest taking it in somewhere and have people look at it. or check the xox 360 games to see if there are any big scratches. that would be a big problem if there r scratches.

New XBox 360 putting scratch in games

the problem is the disc drive.
you have to open it up and put some stick foam " like a sticky strip of foam, insulator : on top of the drive .
the problem is that the disc touches the laser assembly while turning cheating a ring on the disc.
i can fix your games as well as the disc drive if you feel like is to complicated.

Can't run Halo 3 at all.

Next to cleaning your CD good, try also getting the laser eye cleaned as well, this might help. Also, if the disk is too scratched up then it will not read it, the scratches might be too deep.

Disc unreadable

Know what? I've had your same problem... Bought BF:BC, and it'll tell me that it's an un-readable disk, or says "Play DVD"...
I've also already returned the game once, for another copy and there's no positive changes.
The rest on my games work, just not BF:BC.

Error disk reading Xbox 360

You can try a 3rd game and see if it loads and if so then there is a problem with PGR3 and not with game. Also clean with alcohol and try again

Xbox 360 freezing up

I bought my xbox360 when it first came out. Im guessing you have your 360 standing up, there is a piece inside the drive that scratches the disk and ruins the game. Microsoft just extended the warranty on the 360 recently, I would send it back to get your drive replaced. However, I don't know what to tell you about your games, but they are probably ruined, I'd ask Microsoft about that too. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm?WT.svl=nav There is the link - Good luck
