I think you mean LCD display? If so, then LCD displays with missing columns or lines can often be improved by gently heating the ribbon cable where it connects to the circuit board (using a hair dryer, for example) and gently rubbing the connection area with a pencil eraser. Haven't tried this on my wingscapes cam (because I can sort of still read it) but when it gets too messed up to use I'll give this old, tried and true method a shot.
after plugging in the USB cable to the camera and computer you need to set the mode button on the camera to "setup". Then the USB will be recognized and you'll be able to see your drive and pictures. I had the same problem then went and re-read the instruction manual... when in doubt... READ :)
Switch on the cameraPress MENU at the back
You will 2 icons. One for camera and other for tools.
Select tools settings
Scroll down to Date & Time settings.
Change the date and time as per our time zone.
Press again Set/Function.
For display of date
Select camera icon and on the drop down menu select display. By pressing the function key select the date /date and time. Press Set.
The camera is set.
Whenever you view picture it will display the date and time
