Get the engine checked. It will only go off if the on-board computer is happy that all the sensors and tests it does when you switch on pass without problems. So all the problems found in the tests have to be fixed.

Check engine light stays how to get it out

You must clear the code . It can be cleared with an OBD2 code reader and some vehicles will clear by leaving the battery cable off for a while.

How do you remove the "Service Engine Soon" on a

the check engine light alerts you that there are problems. There will be a code or codes stored in the engines computer. You can retrieve these codes one of three ways.

1. call your local auto parts store. Many times they will do this for free.

2. buy an inexpensive code reader. Available just about anywhere that has an automotive department. They will start at about $50.

3. Bring it in to a shop to have a check engine light diagnostic done.

Once you know the code you can then start to focus on a repair. Once a repair is made the codes will be cleared and the check engine light will turn off. If you do not make the repairs the light will not stay off. It will continue to come on and stay on until the proper repair is made.

Hey guys, i am no mechanic not even close, but my pontiac grand prix se 4-dr automatic with 6cyl, has been acting strange when i first start it and drive it maybe 30 min the low coolent light comes on and...

The first things to do are: 1. Make sure the radiator is full when the engine is cool (check the fluid in the radiator as well as the overflow tank). 2. Make sure the thermostat is working. 3. Have the lower intake manifold gasket checked. The Grand Prix SE came with a 3.1L engine (standard) and these engines are famous for lower intake manifold gasket problems.

1999 pontiac grand am 4dr. se. change oil light problem

seems like your oil pressure switch gave up, its located on the side of the oil filter, you can take it out and test with a amp meter. it should cost you less than 20 bucks to buy something like that.

1995 pontiac grand prix with a 3100 sfi v6. the car runs but not well. the car does alot of bucking the rpm drop when car is in gear and gets stuck almost at like 1200 rpm untill you let off or give it...

first thing is to check to see if the "check engine light is on...if so, check for trouble codes, then address any codes that show up...if the "check engine light isn't on, then you should do a pressure test on your cooling system, to see if maybe you have a head gasket leaking, (most rad shops will do this for little or nothing $$$) If you haven't changed your fuel filter in a while you should do that anyway. If everything checks out so far than you should check your fuel pressure, with a pressure guage. You may also want to do a compression test if the above seems o.k.

Please rate this,
Thanks
