Question about Stanley Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

The trip will not compress so the tool will not fire.

Bostitch SX1838K stapler tip (trip) will not compress so the tool will not fire. It's brand new, just out of the box. It's the second one after returning the first to Lowes because it did the same thing and they said it was defective. Is it possible that both are defective or could I be doing something wrong. If I take the front apart and hold the tip in, put it back together and carefully use it, it works. As soon as the tip pops out all the way, it will not fire again.

SOURCE: nail gun won't fire

Try this. Take the handle off the tool per the cleaning instructions. Install the battery and push down on the roller lever in the upper handle. It's located close to the fan blade. (Item 27 on the tool schematic.) Keep your finger out of the way or the fan will bite you.
If the fan goes on, then the roller lever is bent and needs replacing or adjusting.
If the fan does not go on, release the lever and pull the trigger. If the fan works, then the molded circuit board needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Firing Pin doesn't return

The piston is returned to its firing position by air from the trigger valve after the piston has fired. It relys on the piston sealing against the bumper at the bottom of its stroke, if the bumper was damaged when the driver shattered or it was put in upside down the piston will not return. Also the piston uses air fed into the return chamber from the little holes in the cylinder, if the seal over these holes is damaged the piston may not return. Basically change the bumper and the check seal on the cylinder.
