SOURCE: Olevia Kolin PT-501 LCOS TV Screen remains black and lights flutuate

I have the same TV and had the exact same problem. I had to replace the lamp and power supply in mine to get it to work. Unfortunately...its next to impossible to find the parts, at least the power supply. I found the lamp online and I was lucky to get the online store I purchased the TV from to send me a power supply from one of thier stocked models, but only after I turned them into the FTC Consumer Protection. The TV was sold to me as a closeout but new, as it turned out the tv was a refurb, thats the only way I could get the parts I needed.

Hope this helps and if you need any other information please let me know.

I always found the problem to be either a combo of the x-sus printed circuit board and the y-sus printed circuit board. It is also very worth checking out your poer supply circuitry as well. Good Luck.

LED Indications

The front panel Status LED provides an indication of

the set's operation and the possible cause of a malfunction.

If an abnormal condition is indicated, perform the

Self Diagnostics procedure.

Self Diagnostics

To activate, press the front panel <ACTIVITY> &<CH

??> buttons at the same time and hold for 5 seconds.

The STATUS LED will then flash denoting a two digit

code.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the

MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2

second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the

(ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED

will flash two times, pause, and then flash three

times.

Table 2-2: LED Indications

Error Codes, descriiptions and the most likely cause of

the error are listed in Table 2-3.

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down." The LED

will probably be indicating an abnormal

condition. If the TV is switched Off, AC is

removed, or a System Reset is performed, the

code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

See the Error Code Log to retrieve a history of

errors.

Note: Use the front panel buttons, not the remote

control.

Note: If there is no response, the front panel may be

locked by a V-Chip setting. To unlock, press

and hold <ACTIVITY> on the front panel for

When I turn on the tv all i get is the welcome screen, and it will not go any futher, there is green light flashing in front of the tv. and it will not turn off with the remote, i have to unplug it.

Hi Andre,

May I know if the LED light at the front panel has a pattern of flashes or flashing continuously in green color.

Please check if you can access the "Self diagnostic screen" by following the steps below.
- To activate, press the front panel "Activity" and "Channel down" buttons at the same time and hold for 5 secs. The Status led will then flash a two digit code. Example, if the error code is "23" the led light flashes 2 times(blink, blink) pause and then flash 3 times(blink, blink, blink). Let me know the error code to narrow down, it will help to diagnose where the fault came from.
Note : the TV must be in shutdown not switched off, or AC power cord is removed because the code will reset to "12" means no error. Use the front panel buttons not on the remote control. If you can't access the self diagnostic, press and hold the "Activity" button on the front panel for 5 secs before entering the "self diagnostic" code.

Tv shuts off when you turn it on again it will play a minute

I think this might be bad/swollen capacitors in your power supply, or something odd in the +5VDC circuits of the power supply, but I am posting all of the things I have found so far with these TVs.

Here are few possible solutions:
If you have no red light and you have a Megmeet MLT386 power supply, check these parts:
1) Swollen caps on the PS secondary circuit (may cause the red light blink or shutdown problems).
2) Blown fuse F1 (5A/250V) this is caused by a shorted FET at QA1 (20N60), you may also find that SMT cap CX23 is burned up (.001uf) which is in parallel with diode DA2 which may be damaged/shorted, replace these components.
If the power LED goes from red to green when powered up but no picture, then it might be lost +24VDC from the power supply:
3)Check fuse F2 (3.15A/250V, I put a 5A in), if it is blown, replace FET at QA2A (9N50C), replace QA2 as well (9N50C). Check SMT resistors at R233,R234,R235,R236 (.47 ohm). If open, replace with .1 ohm 1W or 2W resistor (easier to source). Also replace SMT transistor QF1 (2X4 or 2N4401 NPN transistor). And replace diodes at DS2 and DS1 (HER207), DS2 was shorted, DS1 was ok but I replaced it anyway.

I dont know as much about the Megmeet MLT169A, but it has similar problems and similar components.
4) I had to replace all of the capacitors in the secondary circuit (there are six in a 3x3 row marked EC9 (1000uf35V),EC10(1000uf35V),EC14(470uf35V) and EC18,EC19,EC20 (all 1000uf35V).

OK for the Megmeet MLT169A with red flashing LED when turned on we found that IC7 was bad. This is an SMT component on the solder side of the power supply. It is a 4407P (P channel 30V MOSFET). For testing purposes, we jumped across it to feed +5V to the TV permenently instead of allowing +5V to go into standby.
