Bolex sm8I bought this bolex SM8 super 8 projector and everything worked except the projection lamp. Replaced the bulb, but no success. Is there a special fuse for the lamp? Some other hints?

If you bought a lamp from eBay then its most likely not a real brand bulb. The PT-AE1000 uses an ET-LAE1000 lamp that should have an Osram, Philips or Matsushita brand bulb. If you do not see PVIP, M or UHP on the bulb then its most likely your problem. Cheap lamps are not worth the money. They fail early and end up costing you more money in the long run. These folks sell lamps that always work. I would return the eBay lamp and buy one that will work. Their support and customer service are one of the best in the industry.

Be sure you have the specific 3-letter code from the burned out lamp, in addition to the model name/number of the projector. Armed with that, go to www.bulbman.com They have lamps for just about anything !! Good Luck!!

It does not sound like resetting the lamp timer is what is keeping the projector from throwing an image. Try walking through the steps of the installation backwards to remove the bulb completely. Then reinstall the bulb again from scratch making sure everything is seated properly. If it powers up again just remember to set the clock back on the bulb.

Same thing happened to me (By jschmidbauer on Jan 14, 2010). How did you fix it????

bulb should last longer than 6 mo. could be a problem with the Ballast or the power supply board.

If the lamp is working it should be fairly obvious but stand to one side of the lens and see whether there is any light coming from the projector. If there is you know that it's an input problem. If there isn't either a fuse has gone, the bulb has blown or the filters might need cleaning. If the bulb has blown it's probably because you handled the bulb. It's vital not to touch these bulbs with your fingers. If you do wipe it with methylated spirits.

The CLS problem. Im thinking that at least you made a visual inspection of the power suply and the capacitors around it. Then if everything normal in the area then the microdisplay (inside the ligth engine) can be damaged. (when the tv is working normally the microdisplay sends a pulse to turn on ballast and lamp finally.

The sweetkyman: when the fan is bad th tv shuts down imm. (if you unplug the fan when the tv is working normal the computer detects the overcurrent system works and shuts down the set) when a fan is all dirty and tons of dust on it the tv tends to work but after some hours the tv shuts down.

To solve this problem, simultaneously press the "Input", "Enter", and "Undo" buttons. While holding these buttons, press "On". When the project turns on, you should see "LAMP 100%". This indicates that you have successfully reset the lamp life timer.
