My Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9000 doesn't read my SIM Card

Can't figure out exactly what the problem is. Try with the following methods.
1) The SIM card might be damaged. To check this, Try inserting the SIM card into any other active network free phone. If it doesn't work then sure the SIM card is damaged. If it works fine then the SIM card is in good condition.
2) The SIM port on your phone might be damaged. Try inserting any other active SIM card to it. If it doesn't work, then sure the SIM port is damaged. If it work fine, Then the SIM port is in good condition.
3) The phone might be network locked. If the phone doesn't allow any network SIM cards to work with it except any one specific SIM card, Then it is sure network locked. You can unlock a Samsung Galaxy S2 safer and easier using unlock code. You can get the unlock code for a Samsung Galaxy S2 from ProUnlocking.Com at affordable cost with easy unlocking guide. I have three bars of reception but it still says emergency calls only on my Galaxy sii I live in Taree

This usually indicates that your Mobile phone provider does not have a network coverage in your area (note: in Country areas, limited network coverage is usually from Vodafone, 3 or Optus). To be on the safe side, make sure that you allow both 2G and 3G network access as 3G access is usually limited to larger cities/towns.

Check with your Mobile phone provider for both 2G and 3G coverage in your area.

Emergency calls are allowed from any Network even if your provider does not service a specific area.

Hope it helps.

My samsung galaxy s keeps saying the network is unavailable and insert sim card to access network services

There are two probable causes.
1. You have inserted sim incorrectly. Remove SIM and insert properly with golden contacts facing the contacts in phone.
2. Your SIM card might be damaged. Try with another SIM card and if it works, then you have to replace your sim card.
If nothing works, you have to take your phone to some service centre
