Question about Panasonic NN-P295SF Microwave Oven

Open Question

Panasonic NN-P295SF door release problem I have a Panasonic-P295SF and something has broken or come loose in the door release. It still works but hangs strangely and has to be pushed on all four corners to function. I want to remove the control panel to see if I can fix it, but I am unsure how it comes off. There is a screw at the base of the door release, but it seems to not be attached to the control panel. There are two screws at the top near the vent that look like they might help. I don't want to break it as it is built in to the kitchen. Can anyone help?

SOURCE: Panasonic NN-T687 (The Genius) door

You will need to remove the oven from the frame, then remove the outer cover from the door.

Once the outer cover's off, you'll be able to see that door opening button presses against the door opening lever, which presses up on the door key/hook to open the door.

Usually the problem is a broken door opening lever.

You can order that part directly from Panasonic here.

Once it's fixed, if you want to download the owner's manual, it's here.

SOURCE: Panasonic nn-p295 blows buss fuse when turned on for cooking

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer. But this is likely an inverter model, so it wouldn't have one and would be some other component in the inverter I'd say.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

The problem I had experienced with the Door not opening easily will be resolved by removing the micowave oven top cover with a tamper proof torx head, replacing the door switch and reinstalling the top cover.

You'll need to remove the outer cover to get to the door open button or door lever, either of which can cause this problem.

The service manual is here.

How do I change the door hooks on a panasonic micro?

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screw(s) you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

When power went off and then came back on, screen on micro wave continually shows demo and I cannot set time

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes and try again.

If it still won't work, then you may have a bad membrane keypad / DP circuit.

If your model is NN-P295SF, the service is here.

Parts can be ordered from Encompass here.

Yes, to take down the face you must have the unit fully accessible - the bolts are accessible only from the rear.

Replace the magnetron, safety fuse and diode as a set and check the door interlock switches.
That should get it working for another year or so.
Don't forget microwave mains fuses are special sand filled and semisurge type.
