check the jumpers on the old drive and see if its powering on or spining up! some of these usb adapters just dont work on old drives if all else faisl open your system and connect it to your pata bus if you have one! if not then use another computer to extract your data and put it on another storage media e.g. flash drives ext hardddisk memory card or dvd or cd disk!

I have a BYTECC BT-PCI-SATA 150 I/O controller card but it does not work with windows 7. Is there a driver available for this model?

I can't seem to find a product with the model number "BT-PCI-SATA" that you provided, on the Bytecc web site. You should shut off and open the computer and read the model info directly from the the I/O card to determine the exact model card you've got.

Once you which card you have, you can download drivers directly from Bytecc. There appears to be very limited support listed for both Vista & Windows 7 OSes however. If nothing else, you'll be able to download the latest version of the driver - that may support Windows 7 - without specifically stating that it does.

If you're trying to install Win 7 to boot from a hard drive connected to this controller, it may work if you supply the expanded driver on USB, floppy, etc. when prompted for a SATA driver. Bytecc only offers an email address for tech support, so you might want to send them a detailed note about the problem at: info@byteccusa.com

Hopefully, this helped - good luck!

I'm new to SATA technology. Need simple cable description help.

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps: Start > Run > type > regedit Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

Installation of BT-146

Yes, you need to plug in a 4 pin FLoppy Molex connector. Your power supply should have at least one. The power connector is right next to the Floppy Drive connector.

Also, the Floppy connector goes in with pin 1 (The red stripe) to the left looking at the unit from the back (furthest away from power).

There is no manual to speak of.
