Seems the Skype community are having similar issues..

Try this:-

Please make sure you are using the latest version - currently 6.9.0.106. You can check your version in the menu "Help -> About". If you are running an older version please manually download and install the latest Skype version.

NB: The "Check for updates" features will not yet prompt for the 6.9 update.
If not check to see if they have posted anything newer here:-

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hi,

YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT NEW RELEASE LEVEL IS NOT SUPPORTED ON WINDOWS
XP

I just bought a HP webcam, downloaded this latest version of SKYPE and could not get it to work. Last night I spent over 2 hours with HP support. The problem resolution was that Skype 5.0 does not work with XP. HP support installed SKYPE V4.2.0.169 and got it working. Your download web page still says download new version...

thank you

Download reaches 45% then goes no further .....

have you tried downloading the app during a diff time, or try to check if there is a firewall or any security software which is not allowing you to download that type of software, check if this happens to all your downloads, try to download in safe mode with networking.
