Question about Blenders

1 Answer

The chopping blade (the one used inside the 'cup', not the stick blender itself) goes around fine if there's nothing in the cup. But if I pour in some sugar, for example, the blade won't go around. It's like it hasn't got any 'ooomph' to push through even something as simple as white sugar. I thought it was because the blades are dull, but I had them sharpened and the first time I tested them with sugar, they went round, but the second attempt - nothing. Everything else is fine, except in the middle of chopping something the blades just refused to go round anymore. The blades were quite dull and there was even a nick in one blade, so I thought it was that, but it seems not. Why would the blades go round perfectly with nothing in the chopping jar, but not be able to turn when there's something like table sugar in the jar?

The motor is worn out

Posted on Dec 27, 2013

Testimonial: "No, the motor's fine when I use the stick part. There's the 'cup,' and there's the motor/stick, and there's something in-between, a sort of lid with a place to click in the motor/stick part. I've worked out that the lid where you click in the motor/stick has got something loose somehow. It's all plastic, and something breaks or wears there. Others have the same problem."

SOURCE: Blades won't turn

If the problem is that the blades are jammed and you can't turn them manually, you can let it sit ( and dry out ) for a few days, or you can try adding some oil. I had the same problem and this worked. My problem now is that the blades don't reach to where the motor is turning, so even if they're not jammed the don't turn. If anyone knows and answer to this I'd appreciate it.

SOURCE: I have a Waring Pro Speciality Blender. After only

If you don't see a physical crack or stress line on the jar, the issue could be either the gasket or blade assembly - Waring doesn't list any parts for sale for this model, but you may be able to call them and get these parts. There are not very many reviews on this particular Waring, so I am working with very limited information (and this is just my opinion), but the few that I have seen suggest that this might be the worst blender Waring ever made (in general, though, their blenders are usually top-notch).

Consumer Guide generally rates it high, but issues this:
"Cons: Strong churning motion requires you to hold the lid in place to prevent leakage through the top and limits the ingredients capacity, especially for hot mixtures"

The sites that invite the most user input into the rating generally give it a 2-star rating.

Waring seems to have escaped somewhat from their usual blender shape - and I have even heard that the shaft is made out of rubber, which is frightening.

SOURCE: Blade won't spin

Check the blade with it off the base and make sure that it spins freely. Check the spindle on the base and see if it feels hard to turn. If the spindle turns too easy , then the connection inside the base is broken and needs replacing.

I have a waring pro blender Model WF2111211 It's glass he blade part doesnt come off. motor runs fine but blade really tight won't spin so the motor smells burn out trying to get it to free.

Heat up a cup of water in microwave until boiling in a two cup Pyrex measuring cup. Add one more cup of tap water. Our it in the blender and let it soak. If it doesn't work, repeat but with less tap water.

Blender glass jar is leaking at base

It will either be the rubber gasket (it goes between the glass jar and the blade assy) or it could be a worn bearing/bush around the chopping blade shaft. Replace either the gasket or the blade assy.

My wolfgang puck 1.6 hp professional blender will not spin the blades if there is anything in the blender container.

This is not really the solution it is just a better description of the problem that I am also having. This is a great blender however the part where the cup blades conect to the motor is made of plastic.
So what has happened here is that the motor is fine, the cup is fine only the plastic part that makes the motor turn the blades has worn down therefore rendering the blender useless. I would like to know where I could get this small part to change on my blender!!!

Cuisinart Quick Prep is not working properly

I think the ice was too hard for a hand blender. I think the impact has caused the blade to separate from the shaft or caused the shaft to separate internally. If your blender is still under warranty you might be able to get it fixed. Note: none of the "Smoothy" recipes in the manual call for ice. One uses ice-cream. One uses "partially thawed frozen strawberries" and one uses sherbet.

When trying to blend things like frozen fruit or frozen yogurt with the Vitamix, the blade stops moving, but the motor continues running. Even if there's only enough frozen yogurt to cover the blades, it...

Frozen elements are generally not recommended for blenders of any brand. They may cause the blade assembly to stop moving completely, or to "bog down," and this may eventually damage the motor. It is recommended that frozen fruits and/or yogurt be thawed when possible before placing into a blender. If this is not a possibility for you, I would use a "pulse" or "chop ice" function to rapidly spin the blades for just a moment. This will chop the contents in smaller, more manageable parts. This should be done before adding other liquid ingredients.

The chopping disc won't attach to the wand.

There are two grooves in the C blade which may be clogged up with food residue. What you need to do is get a sharp knife and score the two grooves to remove the residue, then the blade should have a better chance of staying on the stick.

The C blade is the one you use most, so that's why it would be having the problem. You probably don't have as much residue built up on the grooves of the Aerating or Blending blades.
