Question about Encore ENH905-NWY (ENH905NWY)

3 Answers

My two computers cannot pass through my broadband provider (through the switching hub) at the same time.

I have two computers connected to my Encore ENH905-NWY (5 port) switching hub. However, only one computer can access my broadband service provider. How do I set my network connection so my two computers can access the internet with the one broadband account? Thanks for your help. Terry

It sounds like you have a switch hub attached to a modem and two computers attaced to the hub. At first glance, this should work but does not. The modem will only recognise the first computer to communicate with it and hold that connection. You need a router to talk to the modem first and the computers to talk to the router. The router acts like a computer to the modem ut in actuallity it just passes the communications from the computers to the modem and from the modem to the proper computer in turn.

That is not possible for an single isp connection you can only connect one computer at a time and hub is basically a repeater that is it simply repeats the packets it receives from one input out the others.

Why i cannot connect broadband connection through switch more than one computer at same time? But only one computer can connect.

Internet through your broadband connection is normally setup for single user.
If you need to use multiple systems to be connected to internet then you need NAT (Network Address Translation) to be enabled.
But unfortunately the D-Link DES-1008D doesnt support that.

Can use only one computer at a time. Why i cannot use 4,5 computer same time?

I think you are trying to access internet through broadband.
Normally the Broadband is configured for a single user, if you want to use multiple computers to a single connection then you need to use a technology called NAT ( Network Address Translation).
This technology comes with all the Layer3 devices (Routers).
You can purchase a NAT capable device and you can use 4-5 computers through a single connection to reach out internet.

On my hub right, on broadband it's shows that it's red meaning that it's not working properly. can you tell me what's the problem please

Power-off the hub.
Power-on the hub.
Did the problem go away?
Call your Internet Service Provider, to check if they are supplying a broadband connection "into" your hub. If they are not, then they need to fix a problem at their end.

DES-1008D connectivity issues.

Is the modem a DSL or cable model?
Does the router have one ethernet port and a WAN port?
Normally the broadband modem is connected to the WAN port on the router and the ethernet port on the router is then connected to the hub/switch and the computers are then connected to the hub/switch.
The modem gets an unique IP address from your Internet Service Provider and then the router then issues Class "C" IP addresses to each computer that is connected to the switch/hub.
