Why does my needle keep breaking on my singer 2263

Normally because it is out of synchronisation. Or, you are using the wrong needle, or have it in the slot incorrectly. You need to take it for service.

My bobbin and thread are constantly breaking. I have the correct thread to needle, but I don't even get one stitch before both break. Tension is on auto; should it be less or more?

is the needle in the holder the correct way ( groove in the needle facing the thread )
Is the needle eye the correct size for the thread in use

remove it from auto tension setting and adjust it your self
make sure that the top thread is between the tension plates and not around the thread behind the plates
the thread tension is close to correct when you need a bit of a pull to pull it along to the needle
is the method of threading to the needle correct as any areas where the thread reverses direction will cause it to break
what do mean that the bobbin is constantly breaking or is it the bobbin thread that is breaking
have you got the thread down the case slot and under the flat spring correctly
the bobbin has to be inserted into the case in such a manner that when the thread is pulled , it flows down the slot freely as the bobbin turns
if the direction is wrong , the thread has to move across the sharp edge of the slot and will cut easily

How to time a sewing machine

Breaking needles is not an indication that your timing is off. If you are breaking needles, the most common cause is inserting your spool of thread so that the little notch on the spool that holds the loose end when it is not in use and when you first purchase it is facing your thread path, catching and holding up the thread and causing the needle to break. Another problem might be inserting the flat end of the needle improperly; generally, on modern machines with the bobbin system in the front, the flat part is inserted towards the back of the machine. You MUST have a user's manual; if you do not have one, go to the Singer site, and you can download it free.

How to the timing on a sewing machine

all sewing machines are the same a very simple. to adjust timing so the bobbin catches the thread, just slightly loosen screw on the main needle shaft(the one that has the needle and goes up and down), move the flywheel so that bobbin point is behind needle at lowest point, tighten screw. test it out. you cannot break the sewing machine, tho you can break a few needles as you master the timing technique. dont be afraid to try. it really is easy. one summer many, many years ago, while i was in college i worked for singer in a singer store. things havent changed since then. (almost 45 years ago). good luck

Bobbin won't spin to allow needle to catch thread

sometimes when you break a needle it can cause the machine to
jump time, the machine would have to be taken to a sewing machine
shop to be checked by the technican

My thread keeps breaking ON TOP on my Tiny Tailor. It is purchased NEW from a Store. Ido not know if it is the machine or me. I am not a beginner, just cannot get it going it is s singer

I would check to make sure your tension isnt tightened all the way down or not catching on anything, i know that slowing down the machine helps combating thread breaks. One more thing you can try even tho machine is new is to take off tension nobs and springs and turn over the felt pad underneath and rethread machine. Making sure needle is inserted properly, if in back wards it can cause thread breaks as well as needles sometimes burrs in needles (even new needles) will shred your thread and cause breaks. Hope one of thease suggestions will be of assistance

Breaks needle

Yes they can indeed go out of time and breaking needles is the most likely cause. To solve timing problems you will need a sewing machine engineer though. The part which needs adjusting would be the area above the needle-the needlebar but it is a fiddly affair only to be attembed by someone who can repair sewing machines. It is also a fairly expensive repair as it is very time consuming. However-don't assume it is that. Firstly make sure the new needle is in correctly-the most common cause of problems is needles in wrong direction! If bobbin opens at front then the flat part of the needle faces the back. If bobbin area opens at side then the flat side of needle faces the body of the machine to the right. Check needleplate for damage so that new needle does not catch. File it smooth if you need to! Check you are using a good quality thread as cheap thread causes no end of problems. Guuterman is the best I found.
