Devender, if it shuts down after unused for sometime, then it your settings. But if it shuts down while you are working on it, then its a different.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Automatic shutdown of my pc

It depends on your OS. I would write a line of code that when 21:00 arrives, the pc runs Ctrl Alt F4 together and then Return to close it down. That will close and save all open files then shut down the system.

Hi I have a supermicro x8sti Server Board inside

Basically you have two choices for installation of video card:
1. To purchase small form factor PCIe card suitable for installation on 1U server chasis or
2. Purchase PCI express riser card and to install most full-sized PCI Express cards (Check this link for PCI Riser )

Shutdowns can be caused by many things. If you have your pc setup for automatic updates, some updates require a reboot and will do that automatically. Normally you can prevent that from happening by changing the settings from automatically updating to notify me first before updating.

The shutdown can also be caused by the cpu overheating. Your computer will automatically shut down to protect itself.

Shutdowns can also be created by a infected computer. Malware can cause this.

With out further details, such as what you were doing at the time of the shutdown it's difficult to say why your system is shutting down.

I can say that normally if its a update your system will shut down and reboot, not always, but usually.
Not a lot of help but additional information is really needed. What you are doing, brand of pc, if you have loaded new software or hardware, as much information as you can provide would help.

Sometimes, just goggling you problem on line with the make of the pc will help you find the answer you are having. Many times the problem you are having has already been addressed and a solution provided.

My supermicro x7dal-e motherboard restarts after shutdown can anybody solve my problem ??

Go into the BIOS settings under Boot Features.
Make sure
Resume On Modem Ring
Keyboard On Now Function
Watch Dog
are all disabled.

Now the most important one.
Power Loss Control
This setting allows you to decide how the system will react when power returns after an unexpected loss of power.
The options are Stay Off, Power On, and Last State
Make sure this setting is Stay OFF!!!

Resolve Error Code: C7 on SuperMicro Server

First check the OS compatibility for you motherboard here:
http://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/os.cfm

Then, if compatible, check the IDE/SATA setting. Change the hard drive controller settings from IDE to AHCI or vice versa to see if the OS kernel panics on boot. If that does not work, please reply with your OS version and motherboard model.

I set shutdown time at 10 pm by using crontab but server shutdown at 1800 or 6 pm . I am using LINUX CentOS

Hi
Try using ttps://launchpad.net/gpoweroff also the other way to set auto shut down is

Also another way is

A simpler way is to add the appropriate shutdown command to the /etc/profile file (as root):
Open a terminal window and su to root:
[user@localhost ~]$ su
Password: (enter root password here)

This example will open /etc/profile in the kate text editor:
[root@localhost user] # kate /etc/profile
Add the following command to the end of the file:
shutdown -h hh:mm
Replace hh:mm with the time at which you want the computer to shutdown automatically each day
The -h option tells shutdown to turn the
computer off (halt).
For more information on the shutdown
command open a terminal window and enter:
man shutdown
Remember, the man command is your friend.
With it you can get information on nearly
any command available in your Linux system

Let me know if this helps

Involuntary Shutdown

Hi zen,
Can you please do this for me so that we can isolate the problem

Right click my computer and select properties
advanced tab, under start up and recovery, click settings

uncheck automatically restart under system failure.

In this way, we can see if the system was having a problem causing it to shutdown. or it might be a nasty virus behind your pc.

send me a feedback

PC automatically shuts down

Hi pank, Take a look at the BIOS setups in these machines. Business HPs and Dells have a setting to allow automatic shutdown and startup based on time. Another explanation is timer software; all of the computers I manage run a software timer that shuts down automatically at night. You might also want to talk to your network administrator since there are lots of management tools that allow remote shutdown of computer. It could be something they?re doing on purpose ?.. There are lots of other possibilities but I would check these out first since they?re more likely. Let us know how things go and please don't forget to rate the posting.
