In this process your hard drive will be formatted, so back up all files to another hard drive, laptop, or be prepared to lose everything on your hard drive. After you have backed everything up, plug your hard drive into an Xbox 360 then go 'My Xbox/System Settings/Memory.Select 'USB Storage Device/Configure Now' then accept the warning. After the formatting is complete a Performance Warning box will appear, click 'OK.' Now in the 'Storage Devices' screen you should see a new option 'Memory Unit.' This shows that the formatting was successful. Disconnect your hard drive, then connect it to your laptop, load on some media (makes sure the file types are compatible), then reconnect it to your Xbox 360. Your selected media should not appear under 'Portable Device' in the Video/Music/Picture Library.

Hi my name is chris and I have a game that I bought last year and i am 11 years old. when i got this there was no scratches but when my family was moving and i was at school at that time my brothers were...

It is possible that your game is scratched up enough that you can't play it directly on your xbox 360... BUT you might still be able to play it is you can save it to your Xbox 360 hard drive. You might need to try it a few times to get it to read and work but try following these instructions for installing the game from your CD directly onto your Hard drive. You will still need to have the CD in your Xbox 360 to play but it will be reading from your hard drive if you can install it. Good luck:

Have you tried to insert actual cartridges into the console? If they won't run, try cleaning the connectors on the console with a cleaning kit.

I won call of duty5 on the xbox360 and I stopped playing it for a while, later I started to play it again and all the levels where locked, but the achievements where still OK and the other stuff was to.

check your memory in the "System Settings" section of the dashboard, go to "Games", then Call of Duty: World at War, and see if there is a saved game in it. If not, then it's lost.

Any game i play disk arcade or demos xbox freezes

Try the following:
  1. Hold disc by the edges without touching the surface with your fingers. Clean the disc with a soft cloth, lightly wiping from the center outwards. Do not use solvents or chemicals to clean the disc. Examine the disc for any visible signs of damage.
  2. Verify whether the Xbox console clock is set correctly.
    • Turn on the Xbox console without a disc in the drive.
    • Press the directional pad up or down to select Main Menu, and then press A.
    • Press the directional pad up or down to select Settings, and then press A.
    • Press the directional pad up or down to select Clock, and then press A.
You can see the date and time from this screen. Correct the date and time as neccessary.

  3. Try to play the game again. If this does not work, you can try to clear the game cache on the Xbox hard disk. If you have a Xbox Memory Unit available, copy the game cache for this game from the Xbox hard disk to a memory unit:
    1. Insert a memory unit into a controller connected to your Xbox console.
    2. Open the disc tray and remove any disc, if present.
    3. Close the disc tray and re-start your Xbox console.
    4. Select Memory from the main Xbox Dashboard, and then press the A button.
    5. Select Xbox Hard Disk, and then press the A button.
    6. Locate and select the game you want to back up in the list of games.
    7. Select the appropriate save game icon. The Save game icons are located to the right of the game icon. Each save game is identified with a name, date, time, and size.
    8. Press the A button to display the Copy/Delete menu for the save game.

Note: If Copy is not available, you have not chosen a save game file.
    9. Select Save, and then press the A button.
    10. Press the A button again to save to the appropriate memory unit.
    11. As soon as the copy is complete, press the B button to return to the list of save games.
    12. Repeat these steps as needed to back up your other saved games for this game.
If you do not have a memory unit, deleting the game cache removes your progress in the game, high scores, and other information. To find the game cache, follow these steps:
    1. Open the disc tray and remove the any disk, if present.
    2. Close the disc tray and re-start your Xbox console.
    3. Select the Memory option from the Dashboard.
    4. Select the Xbox Hard Disk.
    5. Locate and select the game in the list of games.
  4. Select the large game icon to the left of the list and press the A button.
  5. Press the Abutton again to delete the game cache file.
Note: Delete should be the only available option. If Copy is available, you have chosen a game save file and not the game cache file. Press the B button to return to the list, and then select the leftmost icon.
  6. Select Yes to permanently delete the game cache, and then press the A button.
  7. Confirm that the icon is no longer listed, and then re-start your Xbox console.
  8. Insert the game disc, and then either load your latest saved game from the memory unit, or play the game from the beginning.

CERTAIN GAMES FREEZE WITH NO LIGHTS WHEN PLAYING OFFLINE

Well, one thing i have noticed with the Xbox 360 is that when the cache is occupied, the console tends to act up. One thing that worked for me was Maintenance. Supposing you have a memory unit:
1) Turn on your Console.
2) On the Dashboard, go to My Xbox, then scroll over to System Settings, Press A to select.
3) You will see alot of tabs to select. Scroll down to the Memory Tab. Press A to select.
4) Now It will display your storage devices, And if all you have is a memory card it will show only one memory card. Highlight it then Press Y, ok Y to access the Device Options.
5) Now you will be at the Device Options Page, Now press These buttons in this sequence, " X twice, LB, RB, X twice "
6) A Dialog box will come up asking you if you want to maintain your Xbox 360 Storage Device. Highlight the "Yes" tab and then Select it by pressing A. It will perform maintenance On your console/ Storage devices. Now turn off the console And turn it on again. Now try the games and see if it works.
