Connect to it using a rj45 cable and type 192.168.0.1 into your browser.  if that doesn't bring up the router config, you'll need to find out the ip by clicking start>run> type cmd enter.  then type ipconfig and see what the router assigned  your ethernet card.  type that in, except for the last triplet of digits, type 1.  once you're there, login using admin and a blank password or admin and admin for password (differs from router to router) and see if your wan connection is set to automatic or manual.  if you're using dsl, you'll need to manually configure your connection.  cable does not require configuring and can be set to automatic.

Have a comcast modem would like to hook up a wl-500w router

For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it
Still same then you need to reset router for access it with above default ip.
For that press RESET button it is in back side of router press it for 10 seconds then try with above ip..
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on WAN settings and set those settings as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP if you want to get ip from router.
Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Connecting 2 routers (ASUS WL-500W and D-Link DSL-G604T Wireless)

This will give you a "Double NAT" setup. Meaning, Your D-Link router is connected to the external internet address assigned to you by your internet service provider. More than likely this is a DHCP address you do not control. Your D-Link router is then translating the address to the 192.168.1.x network. This is the first NAT translation. You are then connecting the ASUS router to DLINK, causing a second NAT translation. (Internet ADSL --> D-Link WAN Port --> D-Link Lan Port --> ASUS WAN Port --> ASUS Lan Port to computer/server/etc. ) If both of your routers are giving out DHCP addresses, then this is all that is required.
